Need your opinion. Are both similar in weight, diameter and feel? Like to change Putter grip on my Newport2 and California Sonoma.

Similar weight.

Matador feel is a love/hate thing. Personally, I don't like the matador feel. It makes my hands sweat for some reason and the material itself seems to get slippery. It's also mushy to me. I believe it's just a Winn grip with Scotty's name on it.

The superstroke is firmer which I like. Doesn't make my hand sweat. The texture feels good. I definitely feel in more control vs the matador. In case you didn't know, the ultra slim does have a very SLIGHT reverse taper. I measured diameters on both ends of mine. The lower part of the grip (putter head side) is about an 1/8th bigger. Subtle, but after a round or two, I got curious and had to check because it felt small in my top hand.

It's the same for me. It feels really gummy to me and I never feel like I've got a good grip on it. It feels like it moves in my hands. The sweaty thing is real, too. Weird but real.

When I bought a GoLo, I changed out the grip to a SS before even leaving the store.

Weight is about the same, agree with the earlier statement that the feel of the matador is a bit gummier where the ultra slim 1 will have a firmer feel. Shape is where the biggest difference will be, and they will feel quite different in your hands. Matador is more oval shaped where the super stroke is basically round slightly flattened on the front with a slight reverse taper to it. It's really going to be a personal preference thing, so the best suggestion if at all possible is to try and get both into your hands before settling on one. If you can't get a matador, just try a standard sized winn putter grip because that's basically all a matador is. In fact, you may actually prefer the feel of the regular winn over the matador if you prefer the feel and texture of the material as opposed to that used on the matador - it will definitely be a heck of a lot cheaper. I personally do like the ultra slim 1.0 myself over the matador, but it just comes down to a personal preference / comfort thing for me.

Same for me, too. I know exactly what you mean how it moves in your hands.

I have a golo too and changed out the pistolini I had on it when the black matadors came out. I played one round with it and by the end of the night, I switched it right back to the pistolini.

Matador is a really nice grip if you like texture, and they r manufactured by Winn.

I had a SS on my Kombi S, and switched over to the Matador. I agree, it is a little softer, but how hard are you gripping a putter? I have to admit the main reason for the switch was cosmetic, as I had no issue with the performance of either grip. The Matador (red) just flat out looks better than the SS. After all, its a Scotty. It might as well look good. Probably a good portion of the people who own a Scotty bought it for the name or looks anyway.....

Just went over to my LGS and bought the Ultra Slim 1.0 for my Newport. I got home and was looking at the static weight, as this putter had been extended, and noticed that SuperStroke advertised the Ultra Slim at 65 grams and the Mid Slim at 50 grams. Ironically I even have one Mid Slim that his marked "Lite" on the back near the butt end. Anyone have any ideas about the true weights of these grips?

Considering moving from the stock matador on the 2016 newport to a SS flatso 1.0. Anyone who has experience or Pros/cons please PM me. I have noticed the same thing as above where I feel the matador is great in the beginning of the round but by the 4th whole feel like it is moving in my hands.

Thanks

So i'm currently going through some anal retentiveness with my putter grips. I switch my Bettinardi SS2 (358 Head) to a Flatso 1.0 because of the heavier weight (85g) and really love the balance. So I figured I would do the same with my Studio Stainless NP2 at 34" 340g, but the 85g flatso felt too heavy and made the head feel too light.

Important to note, i had a matador on the NP, and the SS Flatso 1.0 is much better feel and grip. Firmer grip helped feel the ball more off the face and the paddle of the flatso is a great alignment aid for me and doesnt promote wrist turn.

However... the SS was just too heavy for my NP2, so I went back to old reliable Studio Design grip.

The feel is what its all about... why you also see all the pros using SS over these Winn grips.

My advice is try each. I was using SuperStrokes for a few years now. But a few weeks ago I picked up a Scotty Studio Style Newport 2 for a good price. It had a brand new Matador grip on it. I've really been enjoying the feel. Not sure if it is the grip or the insert. But I have no intention to change the grip right now. It feels too nice.
