It is the winter boring time, we need a "new" conversation. Such as, do you score better playing in boxers or briefs? Which provides the best foot work, sox or footies. Best tee shots...painted pegs or natural . Best ball marker? Quarter, nickle, dime, or pennie? Best ???

1. Always and forever, Briefs. Boys are accustomed to their support.

2. Footies. Actually "no shows" (its a tan line thing). Unless wearing sandals, then the obvious anser is sockless.

3. White, natural, whatever I find on the tee box. Martini tees (balls go straighter and longer), since they're made right down the road.

4. Spartan marker. Have a supply because I'm always losing them.

2. Depends on the time of year and what pants I am wearing, but here in SoCal it's cool max footies most of the time.

3. Whatever I grab out of my big box of tees.

4. Old Mercury dime or a huge English coin I got while across the pond a few years back. Not even sure of the denomination, but it's intimidating, a real "in your face" tournament marker.

Boxers

Socks....a little thicker ones

Wood tees for driver...small plastic for irons

English 5p coin...small and perfect for marking. 20p coin is ok as well but that means I'm flush which is very rare these days

3. Always use scrap tees left on teeing ground.

Prefer painted, frequently use whatever broken tee I can find; hit a fair number of iron or fwy wood tee shots

Reviewing my gamegolf statistics, noticed an interesting statistic. Shot two strokes better while wearing silk briefs instead of cotton ones. Attributable IMHO, to being properly fitted into the appropriate softness. YMMV.

Old coins ie V nickle, car wash tokens, commemorative medals, plugs from electrical boxes, and occasionally real ball marks with the little spike on them.

2. Wool/Tweed Long socks, held up with sock suspenders

3. A small pile of sand

4. A Gold Sovereign, minted in the reign of George III.

On the same page, essentially.

 

Pants are cotton or poplin chinos, or wool slacks. Usually a polo shirt under a cardigan or Sears harrington-type jacket.

Briefs - habit formed while trying to keep important things out from under climbing harness leg straps for so many years.

Wool socks, thicker in my larger shoes, or thin wool dress socks in my tighter fitting shoes.

Assorted wooden tees from the old golf bags I bought, and from my dad's stockpile. Problably 2.5 inch or so. I have some from the 50's that are 1.5" or so that I save for par 3 iron shots.

I almost always play alone so I don't need to mark my ball. But I have plastic pin markers from various courses I've found, and some from where I've played.

I carry a divot repair tool to clean up other people's divots.

I find briefs help me keep things together during the round. I've never lost a ball yet wearing briefs.
