Got the first time out this morning at Hominy, 7 am, and finished the front nine in 1:10. Played 10 and 11 and the wind started howling and I needed to get home to log in and work so it worked out perfectly. 11 holes, 1.5 hours, home before 9, $33. Hard to beat that.

Conditions were very good. Greens were night and day compared to Charleston North, which don't even look like they were aerated, they just look like they're missing grass. Maybe that's the heavy topdressing, I can't tell. Rough is still super thick, I was struggling to get a full PW through it.

Played Ballyowen in the snow this past Saturday, got Bowling Green and Great Gorge lined up for this week. Anyone play Gorge yet?

I played BG opening weekend and it wasn't in the best shape. Greens were punched but they should be better now. Problem with that course is when it rains it really gets swampy

Would love for these dumb twosome 16 minute restrictions to be lifted. Tough to get times and can't play together with the normal group. I'll be at NY courses in the meantime.

Agreed But hot dang 3 hour rounds are awesome. I love to play fast, I coukd have gotten out in under 3 but the guys in front of us this weekend were hacking it around a bit.

I haven't had an issues booking if I do it 4-5 days ahead of time.

has anyone played Royce Brook lately? I haven’t been there in years but have booked a couple rounds next week. Normally it’s a pain to get to from Monmouth county but with no one on the roads I should be able to make it in 30-35 minutes.

Monmouth seem impossible to book. I’ve struck out four days in a row. Only day I got something was for today at 6 pm because they had a glitch in the system. Sadly I got a flat tire on the way so I didn’t make it anyway.

Rutgers was in good shape, greens rolled true and in mid-season speed already. Finished the round in 2:45 after catching up to the group ahead on 16.

I played Fox Hollow today. Cool course, can tell it was a private club until recently. Couple quirky holes, a number of blind shots. It was a bear to walk, lots of steep climbs. Very good conditions.

Something to keep in mind if the twosomes rule continues for a while. As I got to the tee there was a foursome on 1 which was going to be painful even with 16 minutes of gap. Luckily the starter shifted and sent me off 10. But it dawned on me, I understand a course doesn’t want to turn away a family that’s going to double the value of the already limited tee times. But to drop a foursome into the middle of a sheet full of twosomes, even with an extra 8 minutes is like sending out a 5 or 6 on a Saturday morning. I just think it’s something they need to think about.

Played Warrenbrook yesterday. Conditions were good, bunkers looked a little firm, but wasn't in any so can't say for sure.

Rutgers was great! But im partial to it. Greens were nice and fariways grown in. They had the rough cut so its wasnt a huge penalty.

Stay out of the bunkers at WB!!!! They are basically dirt and rocks.

Not sure if the cart policy remains unchanged. Can't imagine many courses would be okay having 4 carts out in one group if 4 buddies go out.

My wife and I mostly walk as is, but I have seen way too many groups of people in 2 separate carts the past 3 weekends.

Carts are still single rider. It was a fun ride playing twosomes. I was hoping they’d go twosomes every 8 minutes instead of foursomes every 16. Whipping through 18 before or after work was nice for a week or two.

I'm stoked the ranges are going to be opened up. I had to go to Bethlehem PA on Friday to hit balls to get ready for Saturday. Side note: That's a nice range they have at the Bethlehem Course. Eric Cogorno was there filming a youtube video too. Place was packed and it was business as usual.

Saturday when I played it was pretty obvious the greens had not been looked after thru all this. Very grainy and soft and quite slow. I suspect that will start to change now.

Now, if I could just get a haircut....

Just got an email from Crystal Springs about my upcoming tee time saying that foursomes are around effective 5/19 at 6am. I thought it was effective Friday 5/22? Maybe an error on their end?

This is correct. Effective May 19 at 6.00 AM, per the Executive Order.

I wonder why they are still cart path only on all the courses? I hope it's because of the soggy spring and not part of this "new normal" (God I hate that phrase).

Cart path only on some of those courses is a biatch.

I played black bear last weekend and only 3 holes were cart path only, because of the rain but otherwise I was able to take the cart anywhere

Are any public ranges open right now? Neshanic private range is open but I'm not paying $475 for hit balls for the next couple months. I called royce brook but I guess the shop isn't being manned.
