Just read your comments.....wow a lot of immature answers.

I was genuinely interested in getting a sub (no date) of course. Best watch in the world........the one with the 2 lines not 4 as the dial looks a bit cluttered. Anyways enough about the sub which I would get with the smaller lugs as the new one has just become to bulky.

Any ways back to my original question, can I wear my no date submariner (2 liner not 4 liner) on the golf course? (Swing speed 103mph with driver according to track man) 4 handicap? (Tend to face longer clubs, draw shorter clubs)......good putter.....

It's just an entry level Rolex anyway, wear it to play if you want, and if it does got damaged just buy another one!

I think playing with an IWC top gun pilot watch would be the way to go. This way you can try to measure your swing speed with your watch. Or maybe an Omega speedmaster.

The Rolex sub only comes in handy when diving for lost balls in shallow water. Personally I'd go with a blancpain fifty fathoms or a Rolex seadweller to make sure you can properly dive for balls.

i used to wear my high-end watches on the course--rolex datejust, brietling chronograph, omega seamaster--until one day my omega's glass face clouded up with moisture after a really hot humid day on the course....

cost a lot to repair the face and dials and to make it completely sealed again and decided not to wear the others anymore just to play safe...

have since used dedicated sports quartz watches for my sporting activities--golf, hunting,swimming,etc....-- which i just leave in my balls or accesories bag and use whenever i need them...

these are lacostes, seikos.timex or swatch brands and all have different colored rubber or synthetic straps of different colore which i can match with my outfits but normally wear an all white lacoste quartz watch for golf nowadays...

i also never wear watches with leather or fabric straps as i sweat too much and they all stink afterwards...

...and oh...i never wear gold or gold colored watches on the course...

i'm not really a collector but i do have about 15 watches...

Can you without it breaking/should it withstand multiple golf swings? ABSOLUTELY

I have a similar watch and wear it doing everything without fear of it breaking, however one of the few times it gets taken off is while I'm on the golf course. No need to tell time and id imagine it would feel uncomfortable during my swing.

I do not, and I won't. The g-forces generated during a golf swing don't play well with the movements of mechanical watches. I don't have a link to it, but on a watch forum I frequent there's lots of info and experts all agreeing to not do it.

Funny - Tag Heur has info that they test their watches to make sure they will hold up to golf and tennis swings.

The info I have read say that the G forces at worst will cause you watch to lose time.

However I am still on the why wear it well golfing. Most of us that have some higher end watches also a few beaters to wear during more vigorous activities.

It's the REPEATED forces encountered in golf or tennis that has the potential to do damage.

From Beckertime's website (not the only place I've seen this info):

"A Rolex might find itself speeding up during a game of golf or after running because of the extra g forces placed on the balance spring. The g-forces themselves will not damage a Rolex, but repeated g-forces such as in tennis or golf has the potential of pre-maturely wearing the balance staff or the winding balance staff. Both of these items are replaceable during a five-year service."

Rolex sponsor tiger woods. He's a golfer the last time I checked. So you would assume that you can wear a Rolex on the golf course. So you still think my question is not valid? It would be like Pirelli sponsoring f1 and then saying our tyres are not suitable for your cars.............

Tiger takes his watch off before he plays golf and it stays in his bag until the end of his round. And Pirelli F1 tires are not suitable for your street car. Try again.

My goodness all the flak op is getting is a little crazy. The submariner, while a nice watch, Isn't that crazy and can be had for less than some of the Scottys that sell on here. To answer the question, just about any dive watch is perfectly fine on the golf course. They are made to withstand extreme pressure and the golf swing will do nothing compared to 1000 ft under water. If your watch is 18k+ gold I would be careful because it could ding fairly easily.

Are the links in the bracelet forged or cast?

Would it be safe to wear the Rolex on the golf course. I don't want to break the thing. Any advice anyone?

To answer the question truthfully, I'd say wear your Rolex on the course or anywhere else. They're hardy creatures. Through the years, I've seen most older guys have worn watches while playing golf. This was in the stone age, before cell phones and other useless devices. All makes and models, cheap and expensive, I never heard of a guy complaining his watch was ruined golfing with it. I would suggest a leather or rubber strap for comfort. I bought a SS Datejust back in 1978 when they were relatively cheap, $300. Back then, I didn't even give it a thought that it was some major status symbol.

I've worn it on a golf course, but even with a leather strap, no watch is comfortable while playing. And of course, the Rolex police will confiscate mine with its $20 strap, instead of the official $300 strap. I keep my watch at home when I golf.

Rolexes are like anything other "luxury" item, basically a waste of money. I cherish a Wittnauer tank wristwatch my Dad bought in 1947 for $35. He gave it to me when I was in HS. It's been repaired twice in its lifetime, the last time in 1989, for $53, which included the dial redone.

Whatever floats your boat. Wear your watch in good health.
