Web.com Tour Finals

Might as well start a thread on this with the first of four events concluding today. A number of fairly big names are in position to secure their cards this afternoon. Bryson DeChambeau is leading and former PGA Tour winners DA Points, Will MacKenzie, Rory Sabbatini and Stuart Appleby are in the top 5. Last year ~$32k in the Finals was enough to get/keep your card while it took ~$36k in 2014.

Beef Johnston is playing but struggled a bit yesterday and last I checked is around 30th place.

PGA Tour players should not be allowed to go sandbag in Web.com finals to keep their card. They should lose their card and have to play all year on WebCom to get it back.

Understand your thoughts, but the pga tour is IMO the top tour in the world, and if the Web.com guys aren't capable of beating the "sandbaggers" who lost their card, they aren't ready for the tour either.

4 way playoff in Cleveland. Lindheim, Etulain, Gonzales and DeChambeau. The first two had earned their cards during the regular season, the latter two have now earned their cards for next year (regardless of how the playoff goes). Zach Sucher birdied the last hole to finish alone in 5th and locked up his card. Past big tour winners Scott Stallings, D.A. Points, Will MacKenzie and Rory Sabbatini finished tied for sixth which means they still have a little work to do the next few weeks.

Less deserving than guys who couldn't get it done on the web.com tour? Either way I miss Q School.

I do too. But that ship has sailed. Got to make the PGA Tour as close to a closed shop as possible...

As for the golf, DeChambeau beats Gonzales with a par on the 2nd playoff hole.

How are they sandbagging? I dont see what benefit there would ever be to sandbagging, but putting that aside, forcing a player to spend an entire year at the web.com tour makes no sense. So the 126th best player on PGA tour should automatically lose out to the 25th best player on the Web.com tour without even a chance to challenge for his spot?

Worse than that, what if you were the no1 guy on teh web.com tour, play a year in the pga, then narrowly miss the 125. Back to W.com for you!...or maybe let teh guy show he is still in that top 25 and give him another shot.

I disagree. I like the merged Finals, as it lets everyone see how good are the top Web.com Tour players versus the bottom PGA Tour players.

The Finals are like an extended Q-School.
