Here is my almost perfect set of 1963 Hogan IPT irons, 2-EQ. Chrome is super shiny, almost no visible wear on the faces, just stunning!

CC those IPT are gorgeous, they look to be slightly larger than the '73 Apex I once owned & loved (I'm still kicking myself for letting those go 15ish years ago!). Do they seem larger to you or is it just the camera angle? Great looking sticks there but I've never seen them in person so just wondering. I'm up to about 5 sets of hogan's with 2 of those sets having a full compliment of woods as well. I'll try to post some pics later this week.

I just had a look at my set of 73's and the IPT are a hair smaller but not a huge difference. Mostly the difference is the distribution of weight in the 73's is lower and a slightly heavier club head.

When I take Hogan's to the course, it has typically been my 88 Redlines or my Slazenger Percisions but I have been itching to give the 73's a whirl! One day....

Nobody likes the Apex II's? I find them to be of high curb appeal. The almost complete Hogan bag played yesterday. With a couple of "others". The Modified "Fellaheen" Scoring System (hit it till you like it) was in effect. Took several holes to get into the swing of things with the Apex II's. With the limited on the course play experience. The Apex D remains very much a work in progress. Although by the last couple of holes, was hitting it better. Including one ripped drive that went farther than where I normally hit the metal. It is possible. The local public course nearly empty, very comfortable late fall day. A real challenge tracking the ball (low sun angle) at this time of year.

Hard to pick one favourite, but Apex IIs are close for me. I've already said how much I like that model of Apex wood. Looks like a sweet set-up, and the Pings are a nice cheeky addition.

Agreed! They certainly tick all the boxes for me plus the aesthetic of the black cameo backs are decidedly different than the typical flat backed blade-on-blade look of many Hogan irons.

Funny how most of us prefer the look of the Apex II Black Cameo but Mr. Hogan hmself used the White Cameo. So I guess we are not quite aligned to Ben the way we would like to be! lol..

TYVM. From my understanding, there were no differences between the White and Black Cameos other than the paint fill. FWIW, these were originally white. I just liked the look of black better. So theoretically, there is alignment. Albeit, they now have Rifle FM 5.5's installed. (They had a bit of a hodgepodge of shafts as I gathered the set together.) So heresy was committed with Mr. Hogan's clubs.

 

Edit Note: My personal playability rating, '99 Apex >> Apex II > Redlines. Can't hit the last very well. Probably more to do with the Apex 4 shafts and never having them lie adjusted more than anything else. Stiff shafts and I do not coexist very well these days. The "ravages" of getting old(er).

i am in the minority here in that i find the apex 2 to be the least pleasing to the eye. the elegant simplicty of the 73 apex and the 90 bh grinds get my vote as best looking . gotta love those 60,s era blade on blade models too-all buisness-no frills. when i have the course to my self- i too practice the hit till you like it sometimes. who knows how many rounds any of us have left?
