In the process of trying to trade for some Apex II's so hopefully some love there and trying to get some '73 Apex again when the budget allows. 73's have always been my favorite but redlines are up there as well and probably most appealing to my eyes. Hope to post a few pics tomorrrow of the current sets I have including the channelbacks I just got in the mail yesterday.

Took out the 70 bounce sole 1+ for a spin today

I reshafted these with dg x100 a while back

After hitting the 73 apex irons last week , I was

Interested in how these would compare

 

The 73 apex Are shafted with the apex 4 shaft

 

The 70 hogans were a full club longer than the 73's

73's launched pretty flat

70's launched high , which is typical for me

 

Just wondering about the difference , lofts length

Swingwright are identical

Anyways both are sweet , I'm building the apex 2's white

Part of a recent haul, here is a sweet set of Ben Hogan Speed Slot woods, driver, 3, 4, 5-woods with rare inverted Y screw pattern. Hard to tell if these ever touched a ball!

Reading this thread has me wishing that I had made a purchase, earlier, today. I was in a thrift store across town and found a driver, 2-wood and 3-wood set of Hogan Precision woods. The set was sub-$20 and I walked around the store for about 30 minutes considering the purchase. They need refinished, but it appears that they are crack-free, just having aged and the reddish stain is completely gone. Tomorrow is another day and I may have some pics by night's end.

Curious, what years were the "Precision" clubs made? Anyone?

They sound like the first Hogan Precision woods from the mid-50s.

 

With the exception of a very few Canadian irons, Ben Hogan Golf Company was RH only until 1969. Oh, and no LH persimmon woods...ever.

 

One of the Hoganistas will chime in soon.

Without having any proper reference material, I am guessing but I would expect those woods to be early 50's. I posted a picture of mine earlier in this forum, have a look at that to compare.

Here is my Mint 1982 Ben Hogan driver. I acquired this from a Hogan Staff PGA Member. Grain is also super on this one ,perfect.

 

When I see woods like this and then compare them to today's Millenium Falcon looking drivers, I always wonder, "What the hell happened"

Ben Hogan persimmon Speedslot DFD, was able to save decal during refinish, Cool club, going to be a fellow WRX'rs bag in the future along with Armour 693 he ordered refinished and reshafted with an X100 shaft

The Ben Hogan Persimmon woods...especially RH Only.

 

MacGregor did make a few LH Persimmons with Ben Hogans signature..Even a 693. Have posted a few photos.

 

The Butterfly Soleplates with 5 screws were only featured on only RH Cleveland Classic persimmons.

 

Nonetheless....Great photos.

Here is my set of Hogan Redline irons (3-E). These had been rechromed with a satin finish and reshafted with DG X-100 shafts. I may reshaft these with stiff shafts some time in the future if I decide to put these in play. Either that or I can muscle up and play the X-100s.

The Redlines look very cool with the Satin finish! I have a nice set myself, with the usual Chrome finish but was thinking about doing a black matte finishmon them. I have seen them that way and it looks very slick!

That finish is great on the redlines...I have a set that's in good shape with the original finish as well CC maybe I need to think about some kind of new finish also!
