Have to wonder on the longevity of this event. It's always been a bit of an odd one anyway I guess...

Little known fact. There actually has been 1 male that played in a LPGA invitational against 14 of the top female players twice and he won once. Sam Snead played against the best of the LPGA back in the early 60's and for some reason, I think it was a par 3 course. The first time he played he was beaten, the second time he won.

It is a okay purse and nice course. I guess alot of pro's dont want to travel to Mexico? My picks are Mi Jung Hur and In Kyung Kim. There are stories of the winner here getting hammered after the event. A lot of drinking at this tournament.

With the long flight home from Asia, and the CME with its double-sized purse next week, I'm not surprised that the top players are resting. I also think its a case of group think. If all the top players skip the event, there's really no change in the various rankings, so there's little risk in skipping it.

Just looked at the field. This could and should be replaced by a much more serious event. Maybe earlier in the season, and move the Asian swing back. Another event in Europe would be nice at that time in the year.

Lorena has got to be happy. The Mexican amateur Maria Fassi, a sponsor's invite, is at the top of the leaderboard. I always enjoy seeing an amateur at the top.

 

Michelle continues the good play, currently at -2 after 15 holes. Hopefully Lydia and her will be cured of Lead poisoning soon, and we'll see them back in top form.

Mexico City is at a high altitude. Pretty typical this time of year for lows to be in the low 40s but then to make it up to 70 in the afternoon.

No I dont think it's televised even in Mexico. Which is sad. It's a great course and I enjoyed watching it last year. Ciganda looks like she might win. She won at stacked field in Korea so you cant say the level of play was low this tournament. I dont need 20 top rolex players to enjoy a tournament. I mean those China courses were boring to watch but had a lot of top players.
