Tim Rosaforte basically says put up or shutup Tiger!

How do you know it was panic ?

He himself said that since he practiced less because of the Ryder Cup, when he practiced the weekend after committing he realized he didn't have all the shots/enough control and then decided to withdraw.

He committed because he probably didn't think that the lack of practice would have affected his game that much.

Pretty sure it was a calm realization that he just wasn't ready yet.

He specifically said he didn't think TW would puss out again as he had done the previous two events.

This is true but my question still stands ... who are these "sources" when all the man has to do is head over to the driving range @ Medalist and see for himself ?

TW was hitting balls on the range just fine before his panic stricken WD's in CA and Turkey. He felt less stress for the Hero event - wide open course with 5 par 5's and 2 drivablepar 4's was much easier to look forward to. I don't know who his sources are, but there was wide speculation if he would play on Thursday last week. Even the droolerz at TGC expressed joy when he struck that first tee shot, they knew it was possible he would not play.

While hosting the event? Very doubtful.

You under the impression that he was working the bag room, organizing volunteers and picking the range? Aside from media obligations (less than his usual for a normal PGA tour event) he didn't do squat. Of course he had plenty of time to sit in the booth after his rounds since he was out early most days.

Unless you've been intimately involved in running a golf tournament, I think you're probably wrong.

I have administrred more golf tournaments than TW, I 100000000% guarantee that.

What exactly do you think he did as "host"? He lent his name, his image and made some press appearances. Outside of TGC/NBC and a few golf rags there was little coverage. His press obligations were far less than in a normal week. I'm sure he attended a party or two and maybe spoke at a few functions. That is normal weekly stuff for him, again probably less media obligations than at Bay Hill, Memorial, etc and certainly less than at AT&T or any major. He didn't do any heavy lifting as "host".

Come on. For a tour event that he wasn't hosting? I've never heard of him doing such.

From what I noticed, he had more press obligations than a normal week. I would think much of that was selling his foundation.

For a tour event, he'll speak for one hour pre-tournament then again if he's on the top of the leaderboard ( just like everyone else ). He for darn sure wouldn't spend time in the GC/NBC booth like he did at the Hero.

You have never heard of it, so it must not have ever happened. He makes appearances at any event he plays in where his sponsors participate. Over the years this would include Buick, Amex, Accenture and also any overseas event where he collects appearance fees. He has obligations those weeks outside of playing. He also has preselected pro am partners that pay top dollar for his time, and he doesn't just sulk around and then sprint off 18 green like some players do.

lol at the notion he had to do a bunch of extra work--which lead to a bunch of extra stress--at the Hero, on account of him being "host." It was a silly season exhibition 18 man field without a cut, played at a billion dollar resort in front of a few hundred people. It had a stress level (for ALL participants, "hosts" or not) a small fraction of noted meat grinders such as the Waste Management Open.

What else would you call it? He committed then WD'd quickly. He had been off the map for over a year, he could have easily just not committed. But he did, then WD'd when he realized he was about to make a fool of himself. Reality hit him fast, that's panic. Calm and in control would have been not committing before he was ready.

WHY IS THIS THREAD STILL ACTIVE?

This is an example of "caring too much" about what one stupid white "journalist" says about a superior black "athlete"; furthermore... IT'S BEEN DONE AND OVER WITH for over a week already.

I don't understand what any of it has to do with Rosaforte selling his relationship with Tiger down river to gain 2 seconds of attention in the silly season?

Because he has been "friendly" to Tiger in the past. Nope.

After his mention of the story that wasn't of Tiger's potential anxiety and withdrawal his credibility went to zero with me. Which was at least one or two rungs down from the very low position he held.

Sure, Tiger's statement that he planned to play Safeway and in Turkey and subsequent retraction was a misstep, but I honestly don't see how you blame that on him. He got excited and misspoke. How is Rosie and the 24 hour cycle of talking heads not equally responsible for blabbing about it for 3 days?

Tiger's best round was also out first, alone too, with a few hundred people watching. You'll probably never get a closer simulation of a practice round on the PGA Tour than that one.

Being host of an event entails a whole lot of time commitment which can throw people off their routine. Just because the activity isn't physically taxing, it still requires time and energy which can contribute to fatigue. Fatigue can be both physical and mental. As golfers, we've all encountered both of these hurdles. Add-in that it was Tiger's first event in a year, his own admission that he wasn't used to walking a golf course, and the heat and it isn't surprising that he limped in a few times last week. Haters gonna hate, but last week was truly a huge step for Tiger in his comeback.

It's a wonder that he survived at all. If not for his SEAL training this miracle may not have ever happened. On top of all that you described, there is not a single Perkins on the island where he can go and decompress.

If you're preparing for a 4 day tournament where walking is required, why the heck would you take a cart in your preparation/practice time?

What's race got to do with it?

To ignore the fact that Tiger Woods is African American is totally ignorant. If you don't think Race plays into things with Tiger Woods. Well then you live in a bubble
