Rangefinder losing its sensitivity??

Has anyone else had this problem? I've had my Callaway for five years now and even though it has a fresh battery, I find it much more difficult to "pick up" the flag, or almost any other target. It seems to have lost a lot of its sensitivity. Many times, after passing across the flag or object 6 or 7 times, I just give up. What gives?

Not sure what the deal is, my Leopold 3i is about 6 years old, and it's doing the same thing. The lens is clean and the battery is new too.

My venerable Bushnell Medalist got that way after about 6-7 years of pretty hard service. There was some dust and accumulated cruft on and around the lens but I kind of suspected things might have gotten out of alignment inside from being banged around (I always carried it without the case when playing). It was still as good as ever from 100 or 120 yards but once I got out to 150 or so it sometimes took three or four tries to pick up a flag even though the flag had prisms.

This might not fix a defective rangefinder but aim at the flag itself - not the reflectors. That works best for me.

Tried that, too. I seem to be in the same predicament as North Butte. I've cleaned the lenses and added a fresh battery, but it doesn't make any difference.

Might have to bite the bullet and get a new one.

Couldn't hurt to contact Callaway C.S. It may be officially past the warranty but they've surprised me on a number of occasions on what they are willing to do above and beyond.

Having the same issue with Mrs. Pelz these days. Tried the fresh batteries and that didn't help.

My first laser got out of whack. I had to aim high and to the right to get the target. After a while I got tired of this and got a new one. Likely just from banging it around too much.

it could be that the sensors are slightly misaligned, this could happen over time with the natural movement of the device

Shock and vibe have misaligned the optics/sensor or the laser is slowly giving up the ghost. Cally might be able to refurbish it.
