Whatever happened to Jack Jermano or whatever his name was who pas peddling those awful gaudy clubs on youtube or some local TV stations? There were some pretty funny threads on him a while ago.

How dare you talk down about Mr. Jack Charles the semi-professional low handicapper and his beautiful wife Countess Donatella Pecci-Blunt. the true international celebrity everyone wishes to meet because she's very "human" as they say.

they also have amazing perfume translation from French is "devil in the flesh" - so you can smell like satan himself!!!

look at these beautiful people with their security guard and huge yacht in the background.

Out of an abundance of respect, I will not bump that thread to shield the forum from discovering this again.

I would have to say that golfers might be some of THE most gullible people on the planet. With promises of 20+ yards on drives that are laser straight, wedges you can't shank, clubs that are "just as good as the big companies", you'd think that with all of the intelligent people we have that play this game (doctors, lawyers, CEOs and the like), common sense would prevail. I bet you could sell these guys a pair of white gloves and a ketchup popsicle if you promised them extra yards.

Id love to see other sports have crappy infomercials about products that can't even begin to produce the results they claim. A baseball bat that's guaranteed to be an instant HR. Football cleats that will shave off seconds from your 40 yard dash etc. We are a sad bunch of people.

These are all over the place in other sports exactly like golf. I saw an ad for soccer cleats on Sunday morning that promised to make you "a hunter" that "always wins the ball". It was some sort of panther line. The steph curry shoe ads from last year's playoffs tagline was "never miss". They don't say "improve 3 point percentage by 12.453%" but it's the same exact thing.

I get your point, however, I don't see them as 'the exact same thing'. When you use terms in general like "always wins the ball" or "never miss", those are not specific claims of improvement. If a tennis racquet or string manufacturer claimed, "adds 10 mph to your serve", that would be the same thing. I don't watch a lot on the tennis channel, so I don't know if this type of advertising exists in that sport. However, from most of my observations, it seems specific to the US golf industry.

Interesting. So you would find the ads less offensive if they were like the basketball ads and said "buy this driver and you will drive the ball like a tour pro" vs, "buy this driver and add 17 yards" ? I guess one could be more deceptive because its more specific.

"Its gotta be the shoes".

"Its gotta be the shoes".

Yes, because they are more realistic. It's more generally understood when advertising says, "we are the best" or "our shoes allow you perform like a pro", that they are being general.
