Bend Golf conditions?

Hey folks,

 

Can anyone comment on conditions of: Aspen Lakes, Quail Run, Widgi Creek?

 

Heading there in 2 weeks and trying to plan the golf.

I play out at Juniper in Redmond and it's in really good shape even though there was record breaking amount of snow this winter. I do not know what shape the others are in.

we have had a lot of rain, Aspen great layout poor shape.. Juni is a good track and fun.... Widgi is OK Quail Run just OK, go play Crosswater if it is open...

Thanks. Can't play Crosswater since not staying at the resort, same with Brasada(said no way to get on period - resort or member of Portland private course)

 

So resigned to picking some other courses for this trip.

Tetherow is in Bend. In May it's $145 plus $25 fore-caddie fee per their website. I think there is better value in the area. IMO

I'll be up there from the 5th to the 7th of May. Wondering the same. I think we're just playing Pronghorn Nicklaus and the Black Butte Ranch Courses.

Tetherow is HORRIBLE a KID design gone wrong too say the least. The greens are borderline stupid at best, do not waste your money.

Good courses the Fazio at horn is the best course in the area if you can get on it...

I actually really like Tetherow, but the greens can be a bit severe. Kidd even admitted that after the fact. Said he was going through a divorce at the time and was angry and took it out on the greens.

I think elevation probably plays a bigger role, for early season conditions, than proximity to town, although on the Cascade side most of the courses get higher in elevation the further towards Mt. Bachelor you drive. I'd guess these two are pretty similar in elevation as they're about the same distance away from the river. Parts of Tetherow might be higher, it's more up on the hillside and Widgi is more down in the valley.

Def let me know on Aspen and Juniper. Trying to decide btw. Quail Run, Aspen, Rivers Edge(pretty sure), and Juniper.

Aspen Lakes and Juniper were in good condition. I prefer Aspen Lakes between the two. They have some great holes mixed with great views of the mountains. Been down for a trip to Bend 3 years in a row and always make sure to play it. We had a group of 8 that went down and 7 of the 8 said it was their favorite amongst the 3 we played.

Just came back from Black Butte, Pronghorn, Aspen Lakes trip.

 

I wasn't impressed with Aspen Lakes at all. The condition was poor IMO. Recently verticut, super firm and bumpy greens, and the not a lot of green grass elsewhere.

I think they've gone down hill over the years. I believe they went into foreclosure (the community, not the course) and have never really put the money back into it. Also not overly surprised considering the winter they had. It hasn't been a must play for me for a couple years.

Pronghorn was excellent and Black Butte was good and I had never played either. Can't wait to get back to see Brasada, Tetherow, Broken Top, and Widgi.

As said above, Aspen was a let down....conditions not up to par.

 

Widgi greens are in excellent shape, fairways are average, rough is below average and bunkers were downright bad. Still enjoyed it.

 

Brasada was immaculate...virtually perfect. Still, IMO, the best in Bend area.

 

Crosswater was in excellent shape as well...close second to Brasada.
