I’m pretty spoiled. My in laws live on the lake so I frequent there often. The most insane greens I’ve played in the state were ozaukee country club for the state am while back. I’ve never seen greens like that.

Yup! He’s out in Arizona with taylormade. Awesome guy. I know some members out at Pine Hills so I’ll try to weasel my way on some how.

Yup #5 at Pine Hills was what I was thinking. 200 something off the tee, up hill into a green that can reject you and send you tumbling back down the hill. God forbid you have you have a chip across the green or from the back to a front pin. I have a buddy who is member and it gets me out once a year. And true again, the greens at Ozaukee and Pine Hills are score killers, but fun.

Does yesterdays announcement effectively stop all golf for the time being on public courses? Please post if you hear anything on this or know of places still open, specifically in SE Wisconsin. I know there will be places that will want to stay open and I would love to be able to get out and walk some courses if possible. I am working in my office all this week but working from home the following two weeks so that would give me some flexibility to possibly get out. I honestly don't see the harm in golfing outside if keeping distance from others and not touching the flag, ball washer or other things. Plus it would be a huge boost for my mental health and overall morale.

I can't imagine they will be allowed to stay open. But did see this Waukesha County Memo: "Waukesha County residents should be aware that even while the ‘Safer at Home’ order is in place; most county services will continue to be available to residents with new policies in place in order to safely meet the needs of the community. This includes the April 7 election and access to the Waukesha County Parks System."

The only way I see if happening is if they move to online only payment. They currently still have pro shop open at Nag.

It's spreading extremely fast in SE Wisconsin. It's best to just stay home for a while.

EDIT: Waukesha updated their page today. Looks like they plan to stay open. Gov. Evers orders allow outdoor activity while practicing social distancing and public/state parks will remain open.

Called all over northern Lake County IL this morning for a place to play but had very little luck. I think most places that are associated with park districts, counties or cities are still closed up. Only place I found was Bittersweet in Gurnee and they were allowing one tee time every 20 minutes. I would have pulled the trigger but no openings until about 11 and rain looks to be here by 1 or 2. They wanted $35 to walk as well which I thought was a little steep for March. If I get desperate I may have to pay it... ha ha Working from home for the foreseeable future so on nicer days I may be able to get out to play, if anyone knows of places in Northern IL that are open for business let me know.

Saw that Menomine golf and country club is opening against the Evers state at home act, I wonder how many other golf courses are going to follow suit.

I'm interested to see if much of anything changes at the Bull. Obviously, it needs to in order to keep the place from spiraling financially into the same place that it currently is. Was a decently fun course to play, but I tended to avoid playing there except when there were mega deals online as the need to ride and the proximity to Kohler seemed to dissuade me at the rack rate. Still, there are some interesting holes, including the par 4 5th (?) and the shot over that big ravine that it demanded!

Wonder what the backlash will be from Evers' office? If nothing, maybe this will open the floodgates...https://www.wisconsin.golf/courses/local-officials-in-one-wisconsin-county-give-golf-courses-the-ok-to-open-under-coronavirus/article_58cdb5e0-74d8-11ea-9192-473bacc27421.html

I would agree with you there Ode1, it's brutal, I'm not totally a fan of it because I honestly don't think there's an easy hole out there depending what tee's you are playing. With that said I do enjoy 5, 7, 11, and 16. 16 reminds me of a rich man's version of #12 at Autumn Ridge.

I went out to Petrifying Springs in Kenosha this afternoon to hit some wedges on their little 100 yd practice area towards a temporary green. Had about 40 bright green balls that I was going to shag. Seemed pretty harmless to me. I got a text from the pro after doing one round of hit and pick up that the police caught two people playing the course last night and gave each of them a $200 ticket. He suggested that it might not be a good idea for me to be out practicing. I picked up my stuff and left but I can't believe that this is what is going on with golf in this state. All around me there are literally dozens and dozens of people walking around through the park on the walking paths. There was no one within a hundred yards of me. Obviously those guys shouldn't have been out there playing last night but the whole thing just makes no sense to me. If done correctly golf can be done very safely with social distancing and not spreading the virus while being good exercise and a sense of stress relief for some of us.

There's two courses open in Dunn county, I'm not sure why this is continuing, it's gotten to the point where I've ask some head pros I'm friends with to see if I can't go out and play and pay the fine if I get caught. Driving me insane!

They are fining people to discourage others from following suit!

We (avid golfers) are all getting a bit restless....there have been several days this week that would have been ideal spring days to play golf. After last year's crappy weather, we finally get a decent spring, yet only to get to ponder golf during Covid19.....a bitter pill to swallow!

My suggestion is to find something else to do that's positive and will occupy your time. I've been doing a lot more hiking/trail walking. Lots of really nice State Parks to do so. I have rediscovered Point Beach State Park. They have a groomed path for bikes and it is an amazing, right through the Forrest, isolated, and quite peaceful. It's not golf, but it beats walking the city streets for exercise.

The COVID shut down is a strange brew. I just got home from walking a really pleasant 9 at a SE Wisconsin muni. Yeah, greens are shaggy, there are no tee markers and no pin flags but the course played really nicely. I've gotten in at least 4 full 18's here this spring since the shut down and I am not alone. The parking lot this afternoon had at least a dozen cars. I talked to a guy on the grounds crew, and he acknowledged the local municipality knows that the course is being played. They are just choosing to look the other way at present.

Five miles away is a nice and somewhat pricey CC. They are CLOSED or so says the sign, yet pin flags are in and walkers are playing to their hearts content. The pro shop is closed and blissfully ignoring the use of the course by members. Another 5 miles away is another CC that is CLOSED and they mean it. I've walked this one just to see the work that was done over the winter and if I had had a golf bag over my shoulder I would have been making a quick escorted exit. Member or not.

So frustrating. I’m hoping this pushes some legislation change or I’m going to be right with everyone else sneaking on.

I broke down over the weekend and ordered a net and mat so I can hit balls in my garage or driveway. I am getting a lot of walking with my dog and sometimes my wife so that is all good but I need to start priming the golf muscles and regain some of the flexibility lost over the winter. Net should be here in less than two weeks so we will see how it works out. Still hoping for open courses May 1st but hope can be a dangerous thing....
