Has anyone played the course in July? Is it normally in good shape? Thinking about a trip to the sea over the 4th of July if I can get on the 2 courses.

Pretty sure it's punch season in mid June. Call and ask.

Definitely call ahead. They do a lot of work on the courses in the summer and often one of the two are closed while doing so.

Course won't punch until late July. Booking my tee time Sunday. Planning on playing both courses

played both this past weekend and the valley had been punched about 2 weeks ago ... don't know about the stadium's plans for july ...

The stadium course is closed this week so 2.5 weeks to heal before I play.

 

Booked my tee time for 7/5 at 8:10.

 

Booked the Dye for 7/2 at 7:45

 

Forecaddie included....is that all you need? Worth the extra for a caddie?

Any good local restaurants that are a must? We are staying down near Jacksonville beach (HIE)

forecaddie is fine, but i would buy a yardage booklet ... a few holes the fc for my group didn't really warn us about some trouble that i/we might've avoided ... water creeping in on your yardage from the tee, for example ... he'll give you a general "favor the left side" and help a bit on the greens, but did miss some heads up type things from the tee that might've resulted in a better swing/shot ... i stayed in st. augustine, so i know nothing about j'ville ... their restaurant has a very nice egg mcmuffin type sandwich for $5, so if you need b'fast, that's a quick meal you don't have to take care of before getting there ... tip is about $25 to $40 ... it is cart path only on stadium, probably also on valley ... and your adrenaline will be going when you get to 17, so take that into consideration when clubbing/swinging ... i did not!

For a bargain-priced bite at a spot that's always a favorite, head over to TacoLu on Beach Blvd, a little before the bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway. It's one of Rickie Fowler's hangouts when he's in town for the Players and it's worth the wait. Great tacos and lots of tequila and mezcal-based drink choices.

 

Metro Diner has a location on 3rd Street now. It's a good breakfast and lunch place that was featured on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

 

For fine dining, check out Doro at the Beaches Town Center or Azurea at One Ocean Resort around the corner.

When I played it a bunch of years ago Stadium was cart path only. Valley was not.

i know valley is not always cpo, but there is a good chance it will be, for whatever reason - think it gets used quite a bit for tournaments, so they limit the carts ... stadium is cpo all the time ...

Here are a few public/semi-private/GolfNow/Teeoff.com options not too far from TPC Sawgrass in order of my preference:

 

World Golf Village - King & Bear

St. Johns Golf & Country Club off CR 210 (not to be confused with St. Johns Golf Club)

World Golf Village - Slammer & Squire

 

If you can get onto any of these private clubs, play there instead:

Can you play the tips at Stadium Course? 7,200? I am sure they don't put the makers out but are they still accessible?

 

The Dye Course was in great shape today.

according to my forecaddie a few weeks ago, the tips you can play are what the pros play ... might be a few holes such as 17 where the tips for that day are moved up or to some other area to preserve the tee box, but they don't add length to what you and i can play ... deepen the rough and speed up the greens ...

Course was awesome! Par on 17. Missed a 7' birdie putt. Course was in great shape. Greens were healed from being punched. Will play it again for sure.

Does anyone know when the Stadium closes for the tournament in 2019? Tried calling this evening and nobody answered. I think from memory it’s 2 months ahead of the event but not positive. Thinking about a long weekend in January.

One of those bucket list trips...deciding whether my one round is going to be at TPC or at the Ocean course...how's the course in October? Anyone have an idea of what the rates are that time of year? Money's not an object on something like this of course but trying to decide whether we should stay in the Marriott or off site might be another story...I'm a bit of a newbie at trying to book these kinds of rounds so anything helps.

 

Don't think it can beat my round on Pebble, but Sawgrass is pretty far up there on my bucket list!

Having played each a handful of times I would personally choose the Ocean Course. No offense to the Stadium course, but the OC is really good IMO. I have played it in Oct but don’t know what the average weather is. I was there this past (early) May and it was great. Played it twice.

 

Enjoy whatever you choose. They are both great and tough courses.
