The Real Judge Smails Billy Baroo

The Hollywood Auction site has the real Billy Baroo used in Caddyshack for sale: http://www.invaluabl...putt-F6048BEB94

Description:

1353. Ted Knight “Judge Smails” “Billy Baroo” golf putter from Caddyshack.(Orion, 1980) Vintage original golf putter measuring 34 in. long with hickory wood shaft, metal putter head and leather-wrapped grip. Highly visible in the classic comedy when “Judge Smails” (Ted Knight) ceremoniously chooses this revered club for a “Hail Mary” putt. Knight pretentiously withdraws the club from a purple velvet sleeve, kisses it and talks to it before making his successful putt. The putter’s head is engraved with, “White Heather, Made in Scotland, George Nicoll, Leven, Fife, Scotland”. Very well documented, the putter comes with a notarized bill of sale and handwritten letter of provenance from Hughey O’Brien, a golfer playing at Rolling Hills Country Club in Davie, Florida (the shooting location), describing how he was asked by the film’s producer, Doug Kenney (of National Lampoon fame), to bring a special putter for Ted Knight to use in the scene. Exhibiting production wear and age. The white tape above the grip was later replaced with black tape following the production. In vintage fine condition. $8,000 - $12,000

There's some pretty cool other stuff (that I'll never be able to afford) like a fully assembled R2D2, the light saber used by Luke Skywalker in Episodes 4 and 5 and the Holy Grail from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

That's so awesome. I just showed my wife and asked her "how awesome would this be hanging in the man cave?" I didn't get the reaction I was looking for.

Well you should go and tell that sanctimonious wife of yours "I've worked hard. This is something of an icon in the game I love. Great conversation piece. And I want to purchase it."

Stand up for yourself a bit.

PutterHo should get it.

Seriously, the first thing I thought was that someone here would end up with it.

Now the real question is - will they "game" it?

If I only had $8K lying around, I'd have clicked "buy it now" as she rolled her eyes. You know, to prove a point and remind her who wears the pants around here.

I remember once, she told me not to order that shot when we were on vacation in Key West. So I ordered a double, just to prove a point. It was delicious. And, I'm not sure if I've yet heard the end of that maneuver.

Just shoot over the QuickLoans.com and start an application while sitting right beside her. That'll send the same message.

PutterHo should get it.

What's funny is I've only bought 1 putter in almost 9 months. I did succumb to buying a 14 x 8 birdie ball green after that member kept psycho posting the 20% code + 2 extra feet during memorial day weekend.

Putter fatigue or other hobbies getting in the way? I thought I remember you saying you were getting into firearms, but maybe I'm thinking of someone else. How are you liking the birdie ball green? I picked one up 6 years ago and it is still holding up just fine.

Kids and their activities ..... ohhh and I found a putter that has been working. The firearms are all here but I haven't had the time to dive in like I want. I absolutely love the birdie ball green. It's great for what I want to use it for and can just roll it up and move it at a moments notice.

You guys are missing out on the biggest question that MUST be answered....

Bag and play it. Or put it behind glass on display?

I'd play that thing all day long - just the reactions you'd get would be priceless. Note that this is, of course, assuming that I won the PowerBall and was able to take around $10k of "disposable income" just for fun. Dream big, right?

There are those who dream of winning that big lottery and buying a Rolls. And then there are those who dream of buying a 10k putter just for a laugh or two.....and a Rolls. : )
