Best serious golf movie

Of course caddyshack is the best ever but which serious golf movie is best?

 

I recently watched the young Tom Morris movie Tommy's honour which I think may be number one.

I'm a Legend of Bagger Vance fan.

 

Might be due to the fact that Charlize Theron is smoking hot in it. It's still a good movie in my opinion.

Everything about tin cup other than the last ten minutes is amazing.

 

Renee Russo had it going on in 1996, don johnson is a great abrasive PGA tour player, cheech marin as a caddy/swing guru? Hilarious! And the whole tortured ball striking genius womanizing thing is something we all aspire to.

 

If Roy just lays up, wins the US Open, and then goes on to have Jeff Sluman's career that movie is 10/10. Plus the walrus is in it!

I really enjoyed "Dead solid perfect" with Randy Quaid. Haven't seen it in years, but the hallway ice scene is worth the 1.5 hours alone. lol

I agree tin cup is highly watchable, but the ending feels out of place and kind of dumb

Legend of Bagger Vance-great movie and fits the bill per the OP.

"Greatest Game Ever Played" by far. Pre-crazy Shia LeBouf was quite good. And it struck a nice balance between realistic technical golf and the "magic in the air" inspirational tale. I guess it helps that it's also based on a true story.

Is it %100 fiction or is there any relation to real life on tour in the 70s.

Life was probably a bit more "relaxed" back then.

Christopher MacDonald is in the Nic Cage terrible movie accents Hall of fame for his work in that movie

I like almost all of the ones mentioned. However, I am going with Tin Cup. I just think Kevin Costner does an outstanding job of representing a golfer's psyche, plus there are so many great golf quotes in that movie it is hard to name them all.

Some of my personal favorites only to add a few of many.

 

A close second is Dead Solid Perfect.

I lean toward the Legend of Bagger Vance. While I like Will Smith movies, I always thought that Morgan Freeman would have been a better Bagger Vance. Also the movie expanded the love interest over that reflected in the book.

 

May I also suggest: "Seven Days in Utopia" and "A Gentleman's Game".
