Great experience

Just had a club fitting and seen my data for the first time. How very illuminating. I've noted it down but key things that stuck in my head is 7i swing speed average 73mph 145 carry - a distance that I recognise from life in the golf course. That was with my chosen G400s which I got 5-lob wedge reg shaft green (which I was surprised with) - nowbthe wait!

Also had a putter fitting. If you've not had one of those then do. Tried everything on the rack including a few that I own. Looking at the graphical data was mind blowing. Best fit for me was spider tour platinum. The difference in strike and stroke to my normal putters was astonishing.

A great few hours - good trade in for the XRs too - happy chap today :)

A professional club fitter will do wonders for your game. It is a real eye opener. I have been fit by one of the best in the country and to this day he takes care of all of my club needs.. He has also helped everyone I refer to him play better. Glad you had a positive experience, enjoy your new clubs and hope you have a great game.

Like finding a good doctor or dentist, try to find a good clubfitter and have a good long term relationship with him. I've had a good relationship with mine for years. He charges more than others but he really cares for his customers and gives them the best possible clubs that will fit for them. He is also a former tour van technician which doesn't hurt either.

I would enjoy doing a putter-fitting process but given that I need a putter with around 78-79 degrees of lie angle, there would not be any way to try various putter options under realistic conditions. I'd be doing a "fitting" that involves trying out multiple putters with their toe dragging on the ground.

To me, that putter-fitting dilemma kind of sums up the entire custom-fitting world. If a putter isn't upright enough for me to sole it level to the ground nothing else about it matters at all. Yet it is *remarkably* difficult to find even high-$$$ custom putter makers willing to build on at 79 degrees. But man, they will stamp my initials on it any way I like and offer every possible variation on a Ping Anser shape!

It's just like all the driver "fittings" you read about WRX'ers having in which nothing shorter than 45" or longer than 46" is even on the menu for them to try out. What good is a fitting if you can't even try the 44" driver you may very well need?

My Edel is 76*. Not quite 79* but the process was pretty thorough. Been in the bag since 2009 I think. Can't recommend them highly enough. They fit you more with each ingredient (aim lines, weight, dimensions...) then trying tons of putters and picking one.

It's a ping anser shape and my initials are on the hosel lol.

I'm not trying to be rude, just curious how you learned you need a 78-79 degree lie angle since you seem to indicate you haven't gone for a fitting.
