I just looked up your Hive website and the names of your events alone make me wish I could play all of them. Really don't think I'd get permission for that. But the Trolls Riding Unicorns event sounds hilarious. If you all are okay with a kid 90s to low 100s shooter popping by every now and again, I may be able to get out there. Haven't played Bennet in years, shame too, I live dang close!

Does anyone know if anything in the thread today would have contributed to my using 700 mb over data?

 

My chrome used 700 megs today. Google support could only tell me it was chrome on phone. Which I knew.

 

I was stuck in traffic and flipped through the thread in car, but not 700mb worth. A couple of gifs.

 

Looks like Bangass is getting a good chuckle right now for introducing the laugh compilation GIF. I just downloaded it to my computer to see how big it is - 200mb. Yeesh.

Everyone was Valentines. It was mostly a "whack it around" day but we were trying to put together some good holes. $25 walking. Played in about 3 hours behind some UMD players.

 

Started out nicely. I stroked one down the middle, but ended up premature of the green. Domes put the lovin' touch on his pitching wedge approach from the thick stuff, then drained that little white blob in the hole.

 

As to 2. I stood on the tee and went, "I'm aiming for that light brown dry spot down there". It was a patch of fairway, smaller than a green, about 255 from the tee. I proceeded to drop one right on it. Had a stock 8 iron from the fairway, which I hit on the button to a front pin. I was looking at the ball in the air like, "that might go in". It hit a yard short, fell back into the trap, had a tricky lie and doubled. I went from thinking I was making a 3 to making 6. I think 2 is a good hole. PQ really likes it (I think).

 

A bunch of pars or bogeys from everyone everywhere. A couple of good looks at bird (me on 6, Q on 7, me on 8 playing into a strong wind), finally on 9, Domes chips his 3rd to a foot from 68 yards and makes that for bird.

 

I broke through with a bird on 12 and had really good looks at it on 15, 16, 17 but couldn't get another one to fall. Q and Domes both birdied 16. On 16, Q was looking for his ball in the fairway bunkers on the right side (he hit 3W) and then Domes was like "there's a ball at the bottom of the hill". Q ended up hitting one to about 15 feet from 175. Domes and I had about 8 feet each for bird, but he sunk, not I.

 

I started out +5 on the first 3 holes, but played the last 11 holes in even. Hit 12/14 fairways and 12 greens. Encouraging things for being a month out from it all getting real.

 

Domes' Kenny Perry move seems to be working for him. He had a couple blowups too, but also 3 birds, and a couple of great par saves and long putts. We could be seeing #SummerOfDomes this year. Watch out for this young up and comer.

 

PQ kept the big dog in the bag all day. He's been working on shortening his swing all winter and it's looking very in control. He didn't hit a ton of fairways, but was in play everywhere.

 

I think we were all in the 78/80 area, but no one was really keeping score. It was soggy and greens were slow and sticky.

 

Had a beer in the bar after the round. Nice little bar there. Some olympics chatter. Q and I had a nightmare drive back to Charm City. It took 20+ minutes to get on 95. Another 40 to get to Baltimore, then about another 30 for me once I hit town. There's an MTA issue in Baltimore right now and I think that just destroying traffic going through the city at rush hour.

I'm going to try to get one in on Belvior today. I'm going to a retirement luncheon that should end 1ish, so hopefully I can get on the course around 1:30-1:45 and play until dark. Then hit up one of the local breweries until rush hour dies down to start the trek back home.

it's a hard hole. that doesn't make it a bad hole.

 

i've doubled or tripled it more times than i care to share tho.

Just to be clear, I didn't lose any golf balls yesterday. I'm going to be playing this Yellow Q-star forever.

 

City was hitting it well. I can only remember one less-than-great drive on #18. But it was still playable and he followed it up with a hybrid to 20 feet or so for an easy par.

 

PQ didn't let the fact that he was hitting 3w off tees get him into overswinging all round, although I think it might have happened once or twice. Typical stuff from him.

 

I hit it pretty well. Had a bunch of Kenny Perry swings (nice and smooth) and a few Katy Perry swings (tried too hard). I was overdoing the "left shoulder closer to the ball" setup for a while in the middle of the round, and once I dialed that back I went back to hitting everything on my line. Need to practice 54/58 pitches from fairway lies near the green, so focused on doing that for a couple of holes.

 

Whatever....good day for it. Price was right. Better than a kick in the noots.

Anyone looking to sneak out in the afternoon tomorrow? Forecast for zip code 20904 (close to NW and Hampshire Greens) looks like high 60s and little chance of rain. I’ll drive anywhere within an hour or so. Love the MoCo courses, the Frederick area courses, Waverly and some of the Baltimore County courses. Cmoooooon
