Future Tour schedule

John Feinstein of Golf Digest and others are reporting that the 18/19 schedule is done with the exception of the week before the U.S. Open.

Houston needs to sign a long term sponsor by June 1 to keep their city on tour. They would get the week before the U.S. Open. If they don't, that slot is going to Minneapolis with 3M as the sponsor. Their Champions Tour event would then drop off that schedule.

The other option being floated, which might be the best for all parties, is to give the June slot to Minneapolis and include Houston in the Fall schedule as that works better from a weather perspective. (Average Houston high that week in June is 91*. No thanks.)

Will have to wait and see what happens.

September is prime hurricane season, difficult time to plan big outdoor events.

This will be good for the RBC Canadian Open, moving to the week before the British. With one last chance spot for the Open, those that wish to play in North America the week before the Open, and a plane charter to get everyone to the British Open, the field should be substantially improved.

The John Deere has one of the worst fields in golf already doing that. I don't expect it to get much better playing the Canadian Open then.

Need to hold it at Cabot, then. Good links tuneup, and Cape Breton to Scotland isn’t that long of a flight.

Saw the new schedule and unfortunately Boston is no longer a tournament after this year. This is really disturbing as they not only built this course specifically for this tournament but it also draws a very good crowd every year - not to mention that it's the only one in the area as Hartford is 2+ hours away and a lesser course in my opinion. I really hope something changes in the future that brings the tournament back to the area.

Disappointed to lose the PGA event...but the Labor Day weekend never really worked for the sponsors.

We’ll have to make do with the US Open in four years.

Most sorry for you and Boston.

If you have a source, could you please provide a link -- thanx!

March is packed, bleh.

Not super happy about that but the 'Florida swing' is nice to have all at once. I think the API, with its purse and exemptions, will still win out with some players to attend over the Honda and the Valspar - if they had to pick 2 of the 3, or something, due to the week-after-week play to take a break.

Plus Bay Hill is finally expanding the practice facilities and creating a new driving range after much feedback from the pros every March. It will be an easy choice.

Quicken Loans to sponsor The National this year, then it's off to Detroit in 2018.

We could be close to a schedule release for next year.

So excited about this! The tour has been long overdue for a return to Michigan.

With all the shuffling around of venues, a common lament seems to be "such a bummer for _____" to lose its event - but I think this is pretty healthy for the game. Realistically, for northern cities, there are only about 20 weekends a year that you could safely (from a weather perspective) host a PGA event. Call it Memorial Day to Columbus Day. A handful of these weekends, the Tour has no control over (US Open and Open Championships); football beginning and baseball playoffs make the Labor Day to Columbus Day stretch unappealing. So you're really down to around 14 prospective weekends, and you probably have 20 metro areas you'd like to hit.

Aren't you better off rotating some on and off over time to get broad-based appeal for the sport? I'm sure Boston will get an event again in ~5 years; same with DC. And in the meantime, I'm happy for Detroit.

A Monday press conference is set, likely to announce that the tour will be adding TPC Twin Cities to their summer 2019 schedule.

This after Houston inked a five year deal to move to the fall schedule starting in 2019.

An interesting note, a golf source told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that the Canadian Open will be slotted the week before the U.S Open.

I wonder if this is a nod to RBC since they are a sponsor of the Canadian Open and the Heritage. Probably a better spot than after the Open.

If this is true then the Twin Cities will likely get a July date.
