Lake Nona Orlando

I gave the opportunity to play Lake Nona while I’m in town. Is it worth the money to play? I played Isleworth a couple years ago and it was great and worth the $$$. Any recommendations would be great!

Worth the money? You can't just pay to get on, afaik. It's private.

 

With that said, from all that I've heard, it's as good if not better than Isleworth.

Condition wise worth it. You can find stenson in the clubhouse all the time. Layout imho is just whatever. Rather play bayhill but bayhill will cost twice as much.

To each there own I guess, but my 2 cents, Nona is the best track in the Orlando area.

What are they charging to play Nona? I've played it once, it was great. Worth it, at least once.

Played today. Was a little let down. Conditions were perfect. Layout and holes were just so so until you hit 14. From there in is much more scenic. I’d take Isleworth over Nona any day and probably Bay Hill as well. Very nice place. Just not what I expected from a private Fazio track for layout and design.

If I had one chance as a visitor to play in orlando between bayhill and lake Nona. Give me bayhill. Layout is better imho. Conditions is a push. History is on bayhill.

Nona is good one time. I’ll play eagle creek a mile away for $35 any other day though. Great layout for price.

Bay Hill starts a head above just for the History and Arnie. On top of that it’s a Championship Golf Course. Great layout and some iconic holes. Also much more difficult.

people who says bayhill is over-rated are usually put off by the price; me personally if I had ONE course in orlando to play when visiting, it's bayhill;

 

pristine condition, history and a great layout; sure there's plenty of surrounding homes, but it's bayhill

 

i own a home in dr phillips, a couple blocks from bayhill; still gives me chills whenever the bayhill invitation hits the block; one of the best held tournament in golf, outside of majors.

I agree. Bay Hill has more scenic holes and the design is more clever than people think. 13 is a great example as people think it's really just a simple lay-up off the tee and get about 130-140 yards in. But what they did was make it a much more difficulty 130-140 yard approach than normal, so there's a decision to be made to hit the driver or force yourself to hit a very quality PW. 17 is a beautiful and tough tee shot, but it's rewarded by a very flat green where you can make a lot of putts. You combine that with 18 and you have two awesome finishing holes.

 

I think Nona is solid and is a great experience, but from a design perspective Bay Hill is tops. It's also the host of arguably the best tournament for spectators on Tour. You go to Innisbrook, PGA National, Doral, Sawgrass, etc...the fan experience isn't in the same league as Bay Hill's.

Played Tranquillo the last day I was in town. WOW! What a great track! Incredible shape. Great Fazio layout with some elevation change and tough holes to go with it. Top notch service and experience. Definitely in my Top 3 in Orlando. Can't believe it took me so long to try this GEM!

This is why golfers are unique. I wouldn't even put BH in the top 5 in the area outside of tournament week and even then IMO its a stretch. It used to have disappointing conditioning outside of tournament week but thats going back quite a few years. I do like the finishing holes though.

 

OP spend the money. Its a good experience that could end up being memorable depending on who is in town. Different the Isleworth but i will say that if i had my choice of which one to join it would be Nona for varioys reasons. Course can play long if they still have to water like they used to do when i used to play there.

the wife and I just got an invite to play tranquilo and tour the 4 seasons and the new driving range/facilities, I think they're trying to lure us away from bay hill lol.

 

We'll see - probably going to play it this weekend.
