TXG tour experience Golf (YouTube channel)

You most likely have seen my fitting video then, it was up about a month ago, "Rob" higher handicap iron fitting, then a driver one that followed. Best fitting experience of my life, and spending 5 hours with Ian and a round of golf with Matt the day before capped an incredible couple days with them.

Rob, I enjoyed watching your fitting videos.

Thanks, I had discussed it with Matt at length before going up, whether or not I felt comfortable putting myself out there for the whole internet to see, and also if they would find it useful seeing a 19 HC slow swing speed player be fit. He pretty much convinced me that it would be very well received by the viewers, and the trolls would be very minimal, I actually only saw one in all the comments, and it wasn't a true troll, just someone saying my time and money would have been better spent on lessons. But as you saw, I got about a 30 minute lesson with Ian, (the portion that was BW that was on FF).

I told Matt afterward, I thought he did a really good job of editing and making me not look too bad....ha As it turned out, I think he Ian told me the other day, it's in their Top 5 of most viewed videos.

It was very relatable to many people who would like to go for a fitting, but are intimidated because they are not swinging it like Matt. The success you had was great to watch.

Yeah, not many swing it like Matt, that's for sure. During our round the day before, I told him on the first or second hole. "It's kinda wierd, we just met, but yet I've seen this swing several hours a week for the past few months. It's like I've been playing with you for years. Ha

But during the fitting when I struggled with the first few swings after Ian made the swing changes, they both couldn't have been more supportive.

I was fit at TXG last summer by Ian, honestly cannot recommend them enough. Ian and Tracey went above and beyond due to delays in getting my clubs, Tracey even delivered my clubs after even more delays outside of their control.

Bagging Srixon 765/965s, could not be happier with the irons, picked up an M1 with a Hazrdus Black which was the freemium option I was fit for and recommended by Ian as it saved me 350 dollars and was only 3 yards less carry on average than my optimal shaft. 3 wood fitting was interesting as the only improvement over my BBA816 that was realistic at the time was an Atmos shaft upgrade but Ian again recommended that it was probably not worth the shaft price for what it achieved and my level of golf (Im not a tournament player, just a rec golfer, club champs and charity tournaments are the most I do), my 18 degree Ping I20 hybrid was changed to a 23 Titleist and loft increased, I picked up 10 yards of carry and the ability to flight the ball in any window with only a small shaft upgrade. Putter was loft lie adjusted as I delivered very good numbers but struggled with an alignment issue from lie, and was getting the ball too high after strike. I did a full bag fitting with them before they split the fitting into a two day affair, I was sore the next day and a full round of golf was a marathon it felt like.

I am extremely interested in flying over to Toronto just to get fit by Ian and the team.

The only thing I'm really concerned is the device that they're using to measure.

While GC Quad is great at capturing Ball Speed, Launch Angle, Launch Direction, Face Angle as well as Impact Location,

It is extremely poor at capturing Club Path, Dynamic Loft, low spin driver's Carry distance, and inconsistent (but less so than Trackman indoor) in capturing right flight modeling as well as landing area.

One of the videos that they posted, they were talking about how he was hitting a 240yd carry, but if you actually plug the number into flight algorithm modeling it only should've gone 224yds, which is about 19yds less than GC Quad produced!

(from 2:50)

It looks like they carry Trackman too and I'm wondering if they use both. Because, Trackman is superb at capturing other metrics other than spin axis, landing area and impact location.

So if you combine both units, you can use GC Quad for Impact Location and Spin Axis/Landing area to much a higher degree than Trackman, and use Trackman for all other parameters.

I would be extremely cautious to believe the driver number especially (irons seem to be ok but as clubs get higher, the more discrepancy both units get).

I've done an extensive testing on both devices indoor and outdoor and one PhD research also aligned with my findings as well. I wonder what TXG thinks of this.

From what I gather from watching TXG on YouTube, I'm pretty sure TXG picked the Quad because of its accuracy and ability to use it indoors and outdoors with the same accuracy. Is it perfect, no but neither is any other machine. Ian did a video with Shawn Clement about why they picked the GC Quad. I think TXG is very confident in the machine they selected to do fitting with and stand behind it 100%.

Yeah I agree with this. ^^^

What ball flight algorithm is used to get distance? Is it some table where you plug in clubhead speed, ball speed, launch, backspin and sidespin, AOA, dynamic loft etc.,? I'm honestly not trying to be a smartass, just honestly curious.

i enjoy the channel and info they provide. They all seem really cool and love golf.

Matt gets some serious MPH out of that 3/4 swing too.

Yeah definitely, and it looks smooth, and not labored or like he's trying to hit hard. It's just that nice effortless power.
