Maltby TS2

But can you work the ball🤪

Actually I can with these. A straight ball is what I mostly hit with the Max. But I can easily feather in a baby fade.

I'm generally not a guy who hits a draw but I can when it's called for to get around an obstacle. I just exaggerate my setup.

Probably already covered but, on the TS1 and TS2, does anyone get occasional flyers off short irons from the FAIRWAY?  I don’t get them with most balls but have gotten them with Chrome Soft and TM Tour Response.  If it’s just the balls, then fine.

Anyone getting flyers in unexpected ways?

The only odd flying ball I've seen out of those two is the TS-2 that I'll describe as a knuckle ball. Comes up quick but sort of falls out of the sky. Weird looking flight that lands short of target.

Definitely not any flyers though.

This makes sense to me, when I combine the info from both of you....

The "hot spot" phenomenon is really just a spin issue.  If you make impact a bit above the CG, you can produce less spin.  If your normal spin production is just right, this can produce the effect normally seen from a classic flier lie; spin is reduced in a manner that will produce increased distance.  It would seem Snowman is in this zip code, with the Chrome Soft and Tour Response; softer balls tend to be slightly lower spin.  Generalization rules apply, of course.

Popeye's example, he is appears to be slightly-to-somewhat lower spin than Snowman.  When he gets that lower spin shot, it's to the point it doesn't keep the ball in the air, causing that weird flight that lands short.

I find this all quite interesting.  🙂

I wondered about the CG location and spin.  On bermuda fairways, sometimes the impact is hit higher on the face than I am used to.  So yeah, combine that with a lower spin ball and thar she goes!  Interesting.  And maybe not the club at all.

One of the reasons I won't play a hot thin faced iron.  Other than a lower loft hybrid-iron.

With a thin face iron, contact higher on the face can actually get more "spring".  This doesn't happen with a standard thick face

They need someone to proof read the 6 iron specs, as well as the head write-up.

But that does look good! I'm so confused what to buy.....

Some of their descriptions are wonky or don't work. GolfWorks ain't perfect but they're still great.

The MMT 90 I got from them has an interesting page behind it as well lol

ALSO PSA: Check eBay seller golfdeals1234 if you're shopping golfworks items. That's where I got the MMT 90 from and it shipped in a GolfWorks branded box.

Yeah, I missed out on it entirely. Hopefully they get it added back after they make the corrections. Did they have specs and everything? Or was it a lot of "coming soon" type language?

It had all the specs. I didnt take any screenshots tho. Lofts slightly stronger than TS-1 og, 48* GW

Pretty much what Britt had said. Slightly stronger lofts. Also really interested in the reduced offset and top line. Particularly the former. The og TS1 offset doesn't bother me. But I won't complain about less.

Not surprised they re-released cleaner looking TS1 irons. They're the best irons I've ever hit, over three seasons I've gone from a 12 handicap to a 6, and averaged an extra 15% GIR. Even my miss hit toe strikes are consistently pin high.

No single club will ever suit the full spectrum of golfers, but it's irons like this or the TM P790 that seem to hit a big sweet spot and just need re-releases rather than new models. Would hazard a guess TS1 was Golf Works top seller since they launched.

The TS1-IM based on the specs to me is just begging to be bent 2 degrees weak. Would be damn near zero offset

Golfworks since way back when made slight tweaks to thier best sellers. Years past the cycles were further apart. Today's consumer seems to thrive on shorter product cycles.

Sales on the TS-1 and 2 certainly took over as sales leaders. I'm pretty sure they easily set sales records thier first year. Don't quote me on that but I do remember that conversation from Britt somewhere.

I have a +HP player with the TS-1s who dumped a set of T100 irons for them. When my game is on I absolutely love them. When I struggle they hate me.

How do y’all think the changes to the sole will affect playability and turf interaction? Better for a digger?

The current ones are fantastic for a digger, I'm a digger so I know well! They just glide through turf and don't take big thick divots like my old irons or wedges do.

Heck NO. The TS-1 is far more playable. In my case my miss with a TS-1 is a hosel strike-rocket. No idea why but it's my go to miss with that head. In every other aspect it's night and day better than the TE.

I played the DBM version of the TE forged and currently play the TS1. I would rank both of these clubs as much more forgiving than they look.

Both of them are by no means true blades. I was a 10 handicap when I purchased both. I found them to be very playable. I switched because the TE Forged has a sharp-ish leading edge. It doesn’t jive with the soft conditions I play. The radius sole of the TS1 has a glide thru turf. They are both soft forged feeling. Maybe TE gets the edge there. But as far as playability goes, you can’t go wrong with either IMO.

Your best bet is to build a couple demo irons and test them.
