The Greenbrier Resort is the sponsor. The resort owner is a billionaire. There are a few secondary sponsors that are listed on the tournaments website.

Love this tournament and the golf course. I'm really glad that they were able to rebuild after the flood. If you haven't been to the Greenbrier then you have missed out on something special. I'll be watching it this weekend.

I'm sure the place is nice but I have to laugh when I see Phil shilling for them on TV. He doesn't seem like the hunting/fishing/falconry type.

How did Bowditch get into the field?

 

So seriously, if someone can tell me how Bowditch got in I'd love to know. I check out the "inside the field" most weeks because I like to see how people qualified, so I keep pretty good tabs on the fields. I've been somewhat following Bowditch ever since his "super DUI" a few years ago, and for the life of me I can't figure out how he got in. His last win was in 2015, so the 2 years expired at the end of 2017. And I didn't see him as a sponsor exemption (and I wouldn't think he would ever be one). Hoping he can get it back, but the guy hasn't made a cut in forever.

I gotta say I'm intrigued by the resort. Hearing that train whistle in the distance got my curiosity up. I looked up Amtrak routes and it stops at White Sulphur Springs. Now the little woman and I are planning a trip to D C and a train ride to GreenBrier golf clubs in tow.

So seriously, if someone can tell me how Bowditch got in I'd love to know. I expected to read something about his complaining about the food at Tour stops, or the valet took too long to get his car back, or whatever. He was just stating an observation as he saw it. I wouldn't call that whining. Misinformed perhaps, but not whiny.
