How does one remove copper finish off a TM Hi Toe wedge?

I want to try the new TM High Toe wedges.

But, I can't take the copper look. Is it possible to remove the finish without removing the shaft?

What don't you like about it, is it too shiny?

 

How about tarnish the copper, just use vinegar.

I’m just not a fan of copper or color it becomes after oxidation.

I just did this to mine a couple days ago, got the idea from a post in tour & Pre Release. I don't have pictures right now, but all the copper is gone, it's now more of a satin finish than anything else. Much better looking IMO and no issues with glare or terrible looking wear spots. Bought a 16oz bottle of hydrogen peroxide and another of white vinegar, all 16oz of the peroxide into a glass jar and what I believed to be close to 2oz of vinegar. Left for about 3 hours, emptied half, refilled, and then left overnight. Next morning it was basically good to go, just rubbed it down with the softer scotch brite pad and that was it. Played two rounds with it so far and no signs of rust coming back.

It is a light plating. And it seems to be changing as I use it. I can see were people would want to get rid of it. I don’t know if “patina” is what I would call it but it is changing color.

 

And I’m sorry, the Hi-Toe wedge and the Callaway PM grind are not as similar as you think, especially when you start talking about a high toe with the four-way camber sole. Now if you could get the PM wedge with a S grind… Now they’re similar.

I've seen a number of posts in Youtube explaining how to do this. I would advise waiting for Taylormade to follow up this club, which I am also VERY interested in having, with a couple of new incarnations. Then you can sell the one you have or trade it in. I think Taylormade has received sufficient feedback from players that the finish does not hold up on their current offering. I don't have a crystal ball but I really believe they want to follow up on their wonderful initial design with at least two additional finishes which will be better battle tested this time. The cynic in me believes they held back the best performing finish because they knew about the problem with the copper finish. Let it sell out and build interest, then replace it or add to the lineup.

 

My best guess is that chrome will be next version of this wonderful wedge to be released since manufacturers have pretty much figured out how to make chrome finishes nearly indestructible.

 

I'm optimistic they will offer it in black as well but that could come with the same challenges as the copper model faced. It seems to me that Cobra is one of the few manufacturers who know how to make irons and wedges with black finishes that resist early wear and tear.

Just did mine as well, Peroxide & White Vinegar it was warm in my garage and it was completely removed by time I washed & detailed my car. The liquid in the Mason Jar went blue real quick.

Also as a side note, zero rust after 3 rounds & the club has been in my trunk.

How much peroxide and vinegar did you use? Also did you drain and refill for each club?
