Looks like your feet and legs are set in concrete. A powerful golf swing is a dynamic motion like throwing a baseball.

I agree with Zitlow. Need to learn how to make a good shoulder turn while maintaining your posture and allowing the pressure to build in your right foot.

Right now you're borderline reverse pivot. Your head and legs are not moving. Your head can move slightly away from the target (again slightly) but this allows you to get the pressure on your right side. But with your current swing, I bet you feel a lot of weight on your lead foot when you get to the top. You don't want that much pressure on your lead foot until you start transitioning. With the current swing, it would be really hard not to come over the top a little bit.

Meaning right shoulder behind me moving towards myleft foot? Like getting right buttcheek towards target

thanks. ive tried that keeping right arm straight as much as possible along with the swing extender training aid and it helped a little but ultimately my poor shoulder turn is still the major culprit in the over swing.

with this face on of monte you can see how much of a better turn he gets over that right foot. the difference is pretty amazing.

Turn your hips. look at Monte versus you.

ya just messing in the mirror and the right buttcheek towards target seems to get my hips turned the best. maybe put an alignment stick straight in the ground and in line with my tailbone and try turn around it to exaggerate the feel? also feel like i want to suck the club inside though with the new found space in the backswing . that will take some time to get used to.

Lead knee goes out toward toe, rotation brings it slightly in toward trail. Allow trail leg to extend a bit.

Great example

You're mechanically trying to make a shoulder turn. Do you mechanically make a shoulder turn when you throw a baseball or do you naturally step to your right foot and turn?

Drills can be all over the place. Find one that YOU think helps clubhead feel at the top, and stick with it. Good golf and swing mechanics are mostly about repetition.

this is better no? sry lighting is terrible. i can at least feel it without a mirror. i was hooking it tho, feeling way behind ball at the top and probably getting flippy. ball started straight then tailed left. was a little windy but not sure if it was more path or clubface or what. ill have to experiment more when the wind dies down

Much better. Don’t be discouraged you’re not hitting it well yet. Now you have to learn how to get back to the ball from there. Won’t happen overnight, but your swing ceiling is now way higher

thx guys for the encouragement. i wasnt hitting over the ball there but just rehearsing the feel in front of the camera and wanted to see if i could do it without the mirror. i still think that once im over a real ball and hitting it to a target i am going back a little bit to my old ways but knowing the feeling and being able to rehearse it on my own is a start.
