Scratched driver head

The other day I put my driver into my bag and my alignment stick scratched it pretty bad. I am considering sending it off to get refinished but I'm looking for some suggestions on where to send it.

Continental is an obvious choice. There’s a thread somewhere on here that displays a lot of their work. You could always try some rubbing compound or scratch remover to help clean it up while you mull it over.

My 3 wood got a pretty deep scratch in it cause by one of my alignment rods... I just touched it up with some black paint I have (compliments of one of my other hobbies). Looks good enough to me considering how much wear golf clubs get....

It doesn't look to me like your scratch is all that deep. Maybe try some automotive scratch remover?

Dude, really? My new car has worse scratches.

Buff it with a wax for cars. Should fill that in.

Lol.... This is the nicest club I've had so I was pretty disappointed when it happened. Wasn't aware I could use car wax to clean it up.

I think it will! :), works on cars and protects the paint.

3M Scratch and Swirl Remover.

...And then cut your alignment stick so that it's not tall enough to touch any of your woods.

Ok thanks fellas, this is what I am going to do. It's not like I am super anal about my clubs and can't stand blemishes, in fact you can't even see this at address, so if I can halfway buff it out I'll be perfectly fine with how it looks.

Black sharpie and then use a rag with a little grip solution to clean any sharpie marks that didn't fill the scratch. The sharpie has cleaned up more black gloss driver heads than anyone would know. eBay sellers use little tricks like this to clean up minor scratches.

The original paint has specks of sparkles in it, so hard to match the paint.

Use a paint repair pen for auto paint touch up ( $10-$15 ) which has a pair of colored and clear coat pens. Clean up the scratched area with some warm water and soup, clean and dry the surface. Try to put the clear coat on the scratch line ( read the instruction for applying the paint in fine lines, never over fill, always fille the center and let the paint smoothly fill the void by gravity ) and polish it with car wax after the paint is cured.

Using the car polishing will minimize showing the damaged area, try the ones with some very mild abrasive in it, the Nu Finish and the likes should smooth out the clear coat finishing without damaging the paint if you don't over polish it.

Your next choice is to repaint the whole head which is not that difficult to do by yourself ( practice on an old head first ) but, the repaint will never be as durable as the original paint which was also treated with either heat cure or ultra violet ray curing.
