With a half decent swing you can be, even a succesful, teaching pro. But to be a YTpro you need to have also some verbal skills.

Watched a few of the vids. Seems like it was a success and benefited a really good cause.

Personally, I couldn't care less how any of them swing or score because I don't use random "pro's" on youtube for my instruction needs. There's a million ways to skin a cat, but I'll stick to the way my coach does it. Much easier than trying to sort out the conflicting opinions and views of all these guys, plus many others who weren't present.

He’s got the short game yips and he’s going to struggle to break 80 if there’s any sort of pressure on him to compete. It’s why he only plays against tour pros; there’s zero expectation for him to win and no pressure.

There’s a difference between admitting to being a crappy chipper and posting an 85 for the entire world to see. See the difference?

Just a general question, about teaching pros, since Breed was mentioned before; but aren't most teaching pros so busy teaching that they don't even practice their own games? Therefore, when they go play, they aren't going to go out and play as a "pro" would?

I guess what I'm asking is, how much work on their own games, between practicing and playing, are guys like Breed and Crossfield putting in?

Why is being a world class golfer a prerequisite to being a good teacher or providing good content on YouTube? In my opinion golf content should be judged based on the quality on the content, not the quality of the game of the person presenting it.

In my estimation, Mark Crossfield, Rick Shiels, and Ian Frasier (of TXG) (the three I watch the most) all present excellent content. I don't care if they shoot 65 or 85 when they play.

I usually care little about how good a golfer on YouTube is if the content is interesting. It is nice if I'm looking at club reviews if the player is halfway decent, but at that point, I'm just hoping they have a similar game to my style. And, even then, I don't buy anything based on YT reviews anyways. I really enjoy course vlogs that show how cool courses are (that I'll never get to play), and other interesting stories or interactions with others who are heavily involved in the game. None of this requires a good golfer to be enjoyable content.

I don't watch a ton of Crossfield, but he hasn't done anything to offend me. I don't think it's anyone's obligation to do anything, whether it be for charity or not. Maybe he has his own charities he donates to. Either way, it's a non-issue for me, but the YTGT sure did seem like fun, and glad Rick did an awesome job putting it together. It certainly had a lot more sponsorship involvement than I imagined, which is a great sign.

He sees himself better than a lot of things but it's not reality.

Or some are just unwilling to share the spotlight with a supposed competitor. I don't really see there being "competitors" in the youtube world. I would be willing to bet if you watch one of these guys, you watch a few of them. I know I do. But that does not mean these individuals want to share.

Crossfield just goes for the contrarian view on everything including participating in a tournament with others. He says it many times in his videos that he only wants to play golf with friends and has no interest in any tournament golf anymore. But Shiels' tournament was really a charity event and a he's played in other events with some of these guys, he should have participated if his schedule permitted. I know Golfholics mentioned that they had other commitments and couldn't easily make it, but it would have been fun to have them there. Still a good event from viewing the various videos and seems like they raised some money for the charity too. Congratulations to Shiels and hope it becomes an annual event.

Michael Breed's terrible first and second shots with barstool have been mentioned from the Bethpage video, also note that Breed wedged it tight and made par,

I don’t get why folks are upset Crossfield didn’t play on the YTGday thing. I mean would ABC play with NBC or CBS? Crossfield has previously done things for charity and now Rick is doing it also.

They are obviously competitors in the internet coaching YT thing. Can’t we just see each channel for what they are? I know MC can be brash but his info is spot on and him and his group are far more “entertaining” that RS (At least from my perspective). MC channel is more organic to me than RS....that being said kudos to RS for the charity work.

For better players who rather follow proven players - I highly recommend formula golf (Blaire), karl villips and luke Kwon golf.

Also learned more from watching players like these than mostly useless swing tips from simulator fiends.

Outside of these guys I don’t watch any Yt golfer any more

But if Pete cowen posts a 2minute clip it’s gold.

So he says he's a golf coach and not a youtuber, and then says to click a link, which links to youtube. I wish I had the amount of free time to find what he does interesting or of value.
