But his senior career coupled with his minority status and third world upbringing put him squarely in the HOF. Aside from media and administration he must be, by far, the least qualified based on an under 50 playing record.

And no majors? Heck he only had one top ten in a major. There are no inductees to the WGHOF with a worse record that were inducted as players. Chi Chi was inducted more for his humanitarian record per his hof bio.

He made tons of money, that's not the issue, he like competing. The Senior tour was big in the 1980's because it gave guys like Trevino, Chi Chi, Colbert, then Irwin, a chance to earn some real money as the tour didn't really make anyone rich back in the day. Only guys like Palmer, Nicklaus and Watson really made a lot, and that was mostly from outside business interests. Those guys needed the money to retire comfortably. If I were Phil I would NOT play...maybe the US Senior Open, or British, but thats it. Tiger, no freaking way....why destroy your back chasing senior tour wins when you are a billionaire? As for guys like Stricker....I guess it's whether or not they like hanging out and traveling with old friends, does the competitive fire still burn? Trevino called the Senior tour his annuity, he was dead broke, and became the best senior ever till Irwin came along. Jack just did it for fun, and usually won when he played.

The best years on the Champion tour is from 50-55....don't waste them trying to make the cut on the junior tour. Phil do not have many 50 year old friend out there....LOL!

While Jim Furyk came in 13th - $136,875, he could dominate the Champions tour and win about $400K instead of trying to make cuts. Remember, in the history of the PGA tour only 7 players have won over the age of 50, one being Sam Snead.

That's absurd.

I will keep my opinion until someone convince me otherwise. remember it just my opinion in a lively debate that's all. Having said that, Stricker is 25th and If he stays there and that's a big IF he will pocket about 80k, If he falls back to 30th he will get 62k. He would have to finish 8th at the Memorial to pocket the same as the winning check on the Champions tour $277K. Perel is over there stealing money. One thing though, his buddy Tiger is tied at 25th, they may play together tomorrow.

There are certainly players that may hang on too long. I don’t think the Toms and Stricker are examples are that.

There are also a lot of hanging around too long on the Champions.

But, you’re not going to find many players as successful as Stricker, Toms, Lov, that look at a schedule and feel like “wow, that’s easier money over there!”

You don’t become that good looking for easy

I agree with you....My real point was, go to the Champions Tour while you still have game. You only have a short window from 50-55 (unless you are Irwin or Langer). I know that the circumstances are different for each player and that some can't or don't want to make the transition. The Senior tour is very competitive these days. To each his own.

Pretty sure Games was being sarcastic.
