Westridge punched Monday. Course still in great shape despite the heat lately.

PGA is punching the East today.   Played the West for the first time and really enjoyed it.   Super forgiving off the tee but you have got to be on the correct side of the pin or you are screwed.   Greens running very fast as well.

Played Split rail with @callawayjay the usual suspects.  Played the best round in years. Shot 37 (with a triple) in the front and 43 in the back for 80.

 

The course is a lot of fun. The greens seem to be in decent shape with a few exceptions.

They re sodded several greens and rebuilt others. Split rail is such a fun golf course.

Played Tierra Verde Sunday morning.  Tees and fairways were great - fairways are green grass carpets.  The greens were a bit slow and just a little bumpy, but were really good.  Most putts were pretty straight - not breaking as you would expect reading the putt.  Only hit five fairways so it was a bit of a long day.  Teed off at 7:30am (4th group off) and were in Ventana to watch the end of the Open by 11:30am.

Pecan Hollow has the best public greens in DFW. They roll great and it’s inexpensive.

Wildhorse is fun but is going to be over $100 until the afternoons each day. Pecan Hollow is a fantastic value like @bacmac said above

Played Squaw Creek today. Very nice layout and fantastic greens. Unfortunately they haven't given their fairways and rough the same love. Dry, lots of roll, a bit brown. 
 

5 hour round in 105 heat was just painful as well.

 

I did have my longest drive ever today on 18. 480 yard par 5 drove it to 105 yards and made birdie.

Grapevine is in nice shape! The first half was pretty quick too… but the last 6 holes had a 10 minute wait on every shot.

Got our tee time moved up to 9:48 tomorrow at Bridlewood. Can you, or anyone else, confirm that they have plenty of water stations available on the course? Or do we need to bring water with us?

I remember seeing water stations sporadically but I can’t verify how many, or whether they’d be enough. I always bring my own water and would recommend anyone else do the same.

Water coolers on 3Tee, 5Green, 8T, 12T, 13G, 15G.

 

The better question is, will there be water in them?
 

I play there twice a week, and bring my own, 2 24oz Yetis.   You might see the bev cart 2-3 times on a weekday. 
 

AND definitely be prepared for 12G thru 16T…seems like it’s consistently the hottest part of the course. Just wears you out, heat/sun wise.

Watch out for those coolers filled with straight untreated groundwater in the afternoons.

Played Bridlewood earlier today finishing around 2:00. They do seem to be pouring the water to it. Some bare patches here and there on tee boxes and fairways but both were still in good shape. Greens were excellent. Putts rolled really well and they were faster than I thought they would be. 

 

If you ever get the chance, I definitely recommend playing it. But you might want to play on a cooler day than today 🙂

Doing PGA Frisco with friends Sep 15-17, staying on site at the Omni.
 

Looking to do 18/36/18. Any other courses to check out? We’re gonna hit Jets Cowboys at 3:30pm Sunday, so probably gonna do a really early round Sunday AM.

You could play Texas Rangers before the game Sunday, it’s not far from stadium. It’s my favorite public course, a little pricey at $125 but always in good condition and a good layout that is lots of scoring opportunities.

Old American will be in pristine condition and 2 weeks before the LPGA event but getting a Sun time will be very difficult without a member.

Waterchase is in splendid shape! They are still working on the cartpath and tee box on 1-2 holes. But everything is nice and green.

Could always do The Tribute over OA without a member.
