Ping Hydropearl finish REALLY works

I think this is totally fascinating, watched this video today and made me want to go out and try some glides right away. Just have two questions, how's the durability? And is it a finish thats been applied or it is a part of their plating process?

I can't answer the second question, nor definitively answer the first, but I can give some feedback. I've got about 25 rounds on mine (54* and 58*). I don't have measurements on the spin, but we got pounded with rain in the morning through early afternoon Thursday (I think, may have been Wednesday), and the course was still very wet that afternoon when I played. Ground was wet, ball was wet, clubface was wet (didn't bother drying it after practice shots), and I was still getting plenty of spin with both the 54 and the 58, didn't seem like any less than with my normal dry shots. The 54 is my sand club, probably sees on average a shot or two out of the sand per round, and it seems to be holding up just fine as well as the 58.

 

Totally anecdotal and un-scientific, but so far, the hydropearl finish seems to be holding up well.
