There are a lot of landmarks in the world, very few of them hold the dignity of the world like the Statue of Liberty. Given to the US as the signal of "The City on the Hill" and as DeToqueville called it, the greatest experiment in human history. And it is here I would like to start my football analysis.

 

Mason Rudolph has been exposed as the progeny of this venerated statue. Under duresse, he looked like me running around back there, when he was actually able to run. He seriously looked so far out of his depth it was disconcerting to those of us who tried to watch that drivel. It felt like the Stillers were down about 40, but alas, the Browns are so bad, they were still in the game. Give me your tired and your weak, and what pops up but a team statistically worse than the Stillers. The Queen City and the now demoted Red Rifle will descend upon the Stillers and lose. It is that simple. Even without the injuries, the Bengals will lose because they want a #1 pick. Anyone remember KiJana Carter? Didn't think so. Stillers and the points.

 

Standing in fornt of the Trevi Fountain I was amazed at how many people could sit and gaze and something spewing water repeatedly. Let's be honest, the Trevi is a remarkable fountain. The stone work is unmatched for a public forum, but people were watching the water spew forth. Speaking of spewing... beyond this missive mind you, the Saints and the Bucs face off this weekend, and I anticipate a lot of offense. I am surprised the O/U is 47. I would like to take the over. Even if only the Saints score, I suspect JW is good for a pick six or two. Spew away as I tick on e off in the win column.

 

Years ago, an abbot in Westminster confessed to me that he had season tickets for the Gunners. There are a lot of dead people in those walls, under the floors, and then just hanging out in big stone boxes. Darwin is there, Queens, governors, and so many people I can't even remember them all. And they are all dead, and it is indeed a great honor to buried there. Amazingly enough, William Pitt is buried there, the guy they named Pittsburgh after, so there is a shot of trivia for the golfing masses. Anyway, speaking of dead people buried under the feet of the unwashed masses, I am picking whoever is playing the Redskins and taking the points. If Dan Snyder were English I feel the Westminster Abbey would not be his final resting place, but maybe that's just me. I would defer to the good DoctorO and Touch.

 

Lastly, this morning I got on the treadmill for 10 minutes. I worked myself into a lather, fat short guys can't go for too long. Feeling accomplished, I looked at the calories burned and realized it amounted to 3/4 of a Bud Light, or 1.5 bit sized candy bars, or 1/2 piece of pizza. I am doomed... I am the tired and the weak for whom America is the beacon of hope.

Got out again today and it climbed to 61 degrees. It still amazes me how few golfers will not tee off when it is in the 40's to start.

Jereb, please note:

The contest is each November, but the display continues open through the holidays. For instance this year the display is up Nov. 20th thru Jan. 4th 2020. I've been visiting the Grove Park for 25 years. It's my favorite landmark/structure in AVL. The Biltmore Estate is blah to me in comparison. lol it's too large/much. The Grove Park reminds me of The Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island in Northern Michigan. It's the sense that time has stood still when you experience both places. I especially like that sensation.

Now the Sierra Nevada Brewery is my favorite new building in Asheville. The place is just jaw dropping. The brewery tour is excellent and amazing as well.

That sir Jerebear is a must see. It looks like an Aspen Colorado Lodge with a state of the art brewery attached to it, right here in western N.C. !
