The overall move is solid, but your setup is not and is the source of everything that follows. But, since I'm not Monte, you should probably take my comments with another grain of salt.

Your sarcasm is great. Simply seen too many people give terrible advice to good looking golf swings.

This should help.

Give yourself permission to hit bad shots even whiff or top it. Get to the top of your backswing, pause and swing to the target literally try to hit the ball with your arms and hands still above your shoulders. It’s just a feeling..you can’t actually do it. If you actually give yourself permission to try it..your body will make body tilt adjustments and you might actually hit the ball very good

Curious as to what kind of scores you shoot and where you are looking to get with that swing....

That's for that, my only concern on that would be i've a tendency to get my left arm a little too stuck to my chest in transition and my path moves a little too much out to the right - do you think those 2 things are related or am i thinking about 2 separate problems?

Really don't play a great deal but highest score in the past 4 years is a 78 (+7) and lowest a 64 (-6), so not a massive variance. Hold a UK +1 handicap (which i think would be a US +3 approx?!)

I can generally get it round fine but under pressure recently in my club championship i was really hitting the ball poorly and i could just feel the nerves affecting my timing etc. (i did win but was really disappointed in my long game under pressure - thankfully my short game is fine under pressure and saved me a number of times).

Now we're entering the off-season i just want to try eliminate a couple of the more timing dependent parts of my swing of which the late wrist set, float loading etc. are big factors i think.

I also think i just enjoy having things to work on in my swing, for better or for worse it keeps me interested!

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. :-)

I made one major change to my golf game under pressure that has allowed me to play much better golf when it's crunch time. Curious if you have a predominant miss under pressure, especially off the tee.

I don't remember if it was Faldo or Johnny Miller, but one of them mentioned, on a broadcast, that under pressure, our large muscles (legs, torso area, etc), tend to want to move first, and our little muscles (those controlling the hands?) tend be be afraid and lag back. And the resulting miss is very, very frequently shots that finish high, weak, and right (for a right-hander) for most players.

I looked back over the years under pressure, and far more often than not, that was my miss under pressure -- especially on certain types of holes.

So I now remind myself to feel, just a bit, like I'm throwing the club from the top and even "casting" a bit. That thought has done wonders for full-swing shots under pressure the last 3 years or so.

That might not apply to everyone, but it sure applies to me and my game.

That is really interesting as it's basically exactly the same pattern i'm getting. i think my float load pattern results in my smaller muscles (hands and wrists etc.) loading even later than usual and my torso then outrunning my hands and arms on the downswing.

Progress made. Yes, more room to go inward if you choose. When shaft gets to first parallel to ground going back freeze it there, what do you see from your perspective? Does shaft basically lay upon, or on top of, the toe line, or outside the toe line, from your point of view, and where is the butt end- inside, outside, or on top of rear foot?
