almost every iron shaft set I found were bent. What is the cause?

I think the image is a little overly dramatized. I'm sure the thickness differences they are talking about are in the 1000's of an inch. It could be manipulated while drawing down the steps fairly easily.

It's not as crazy as you'd think. It's essentially just taking a steel tube, putting a mandrel inside it and then pushing them into a die. The steel tube takes on the shape of the mandrel and die so it's really not that complicated to manipulate where the material is thicker or thinner.

You do realize OP said it was 3 shafts produced by True Temper right? I know you're a KBS hater but to lose all reading comprehension over it is a bit much.

The specific post I was replying to was discussing KBS shafts.

The first post by the OP did not identify which shafts he was using.

I'm not a KBS hater. I actually quite like the performance of their shafts. Except for the tip problem.

You can dispute this as much as you want but I did take a TTDG and measure with a $500.00 micrometer the wall thickness at the butt and the tip and they were both approx .022".

That said I did not measure the wall thickness all along the full length of the shaft.

You should test a shaft with variable wall thickness. I just did the same thing with an uncut Modus 120 X. Butt was .019" and tip was .026". Not surprising results considering the Modus 120 is supposed to have a softer butt section and stiffer tip section.

Same results with a C-Taper I've got lying around. The one TT taper I have, I got .018 and .024.

I've got some uncut DG X7's that I'll measure at lunch. I'd be the wall thickness in the tip of those things is really high. I wish I had a KBS Tour to measure.

The difference when measured seems much closer than what I perceive visually. This merits some shaft cutting and more measurements with more than a couple of shafts. I hate to admit it, but Denkea might be more correct than we are. *Pending more tests.

You're the 1st reply to this thread, before any brand was mentioned you brought KBS into it...

It's hard to blame him for jumping to the conclusion that it was a KBS shaft because bent tips is so common with them. The two I see the most are KBS and PXi. I have literally seen 100 KBS and PXi shafts with bent tips for every 1 of all the other SKUs put together.

You tend to see it happen a lot this time of year because most places are mats only right now and this normally happens when you hit a lot of balls off a mat.

So with a little more time and sorting through a few steel shafts I've got lying around, here is what I found for wall thickness:

Shaft - Tip - Butt (all in Inches)

C-Taper - .022 - .013

TT Stratus - .021 - .014

TT SL - .023 - .010

TT DG Parallel - .026 - .014

TTXL 43" - .021 - .014

TT Putter - .022 - .021

AWT 2.0 - .021 - .014

I guess my eyes weren't deceiving me. Every tip wall is thicker than the butt wall except for the putter shaft. I didn't cut any apart to test for variations along the length because that's just wasting money. As seen in the video, they all start at TT with the same wall thickness, but depending on the shaft, that wall diameter can change through the length.
