Sand Valley Trip Review - May 29th

Without staying on property is there a shot in hell at getting Sand Valley tee times booked 30 days out?  Not looking at a 16 guy trip but 2-4 guys.  We have possible off site accommodations for free and saving a few hundred bucks each isn't a bad thought.

However, if it's impossible to get on the course we'll have to reconsider.

Are their rates the same no matter the day of the week?

We would like to play a lot of golf and make the most of it. So figure they get pretty busy Friday through Sunday?

Same any day of the week. Lots of people on trips during the week so no reason to change prices. First round is rack rate, second is 50%, third is free, and fourth they pay you $100 if you finish.

Does anyone know of someone doing this? I never heard of this, that is a challenge I'd love to accept. Probably pretty tough with how busy it is in the summer.

Not sure about anyone doing this on a random day, but this is done for the solstice events where people complete all four rounds.

Playing Mammoth / Sand Valley back to back in the same day on May 4th.   Keeping fingers crossed for decent weather.   First round at spring rates and second for half so all in for $269 for both.   A lot of money, but not a lot to play two of the best public courses in the country.    Has anyone done the course with their own pull carts?  I know those big wheel versions do a little better with the sand between tee boxes and fairways but I really don't want to have to pay to rent the Rickshaw cart for 36 if I can help it.

I did this exact trip last year the first time I went (it is so good I made the trip twice last year 😂). You'll have no issue with your cart. The only tough spot is number 9 on Sand Valley getting up to 10. Other than that it is an easy walk and your cart will have no issues. I used my own the first time, the 2nd time I went my wife used it and I took one of SV's. She had no problem either. That being said, unless they changed it this year, their pushcarts are free to use.

Ok good to know.  I played Streamsong 2 weeks ago and used the Rickshaw cart and they charged me like $15 which was fine since I had no other real option but didn't want to plunk down even more money for a cart.  I'll bring my own and should be ok.   Thanks.

I thought the Streamsong courses were much harder of a walk for what it is worth... It was way hotter, but I felt like there was a lot of thick fluffy sand to pull through that you don't really deal with at SV.

Good to know.  I played the Blue course and while I was a little gassed by the end I didn't think it was too bad over all.  I couple of paths and hills that were a little extreme but overall a good walk and on a 70 degree day not too oppressive.
