I think you would be well served to work on the feel of weight and pressures in your lead foot. At transition your feet are so static. Trying to get things moving before things are leveraged. Right hips and knees are firing too early. Your lead foot is setting you up for a slight over the top move. Your lead knee is destined to make the same cut motion that your body follows.

Can you please explain this a little more, how the foot and knee are setting up to promote that swing path...I think i do the same thing at times.

This is a common flaw. People want to swing hard, we want the hips open, we want to swing left, we want to avoid the push slice. And what happens is the front foot spins out (toe moving toward target, heel moving back towards the rear foot) too early. Now, most people feel like they are opening the hips here, and they certainly are to the target line. But most don't have them open as much as they think compared to the shoulder line which gets pulled with everything. This early spin, for most, creates an OTT move, steep angle of attack, and a fade ball flight on good days. Pull or pull hooks on bad days. And likely poor ballstriking.

Look at the pictures I posted earlier of Hovland and Wolfe. At the transition point, the lead heal is moving toward the target. Look at the angles of the feet compared to the 3/4 backswing. Wolfe is exaggerating more than most because of his unorthodox backswing, but to illustrate the point, look at how much his lead heel has moved. The feels from here are different from everybody, but the body is set to swing from the inside, the shoulder will stay more closed to the hips, and there is more power to be gained from pushing off with the left foot. Of course, eventually the foot will roll over or spin out. That motion is to be expected, just not so soon.

Open shoulders. Basically forces the outside to in path. A square face is open to path, so the ball fades or slices. If you match face to path and release, the ball is going way left.

If you match your shoulders to your square stance or close then to your stance, then make the same swing, the ball is going straight or small draw.

There is no good/great ball striker who narrows the distance between his knees in early transition. Some increase this distance like Hovland

and Wolfe while most  others like Brooks Koepka keep it constant .

You are obviously starting your transition via spinning your right hip instead of left  hip  external rotation like the three golfers that I mentioned above .

The good news is that you obviously exhibit a good deal of athleticism  in your swing.

The bad news is that this right hip spinning is very well ingrained . It will be very difficult to impossible to correct this problem using full length full speed swings. You need to first learn to  correctly start your downswing using half length slower swings.

Monte had an effective drill to help golfers with your problem . Just place an empty plastic bucket ( empty side up)or a soccer ball between your knees and drop the bucket or soccer  ball to start your transition. .Film this drill and you will see  a significant difference .

Here is a driver video from today. I think I’m getting in better positions but still struggling with the EE on the backswing. Any tips for this? And anyone see anything else. I’ve got a remote lesson with Monte on Thursday so we will see how that goes.

Thanks

how's your ball flight? i would guess lower based on your finish. it looks a bit "sawed off" if that makes sense. also, do you have a side view?

Here is side view. My ball flight is typical fine, 11-13 launch angle on my flightscope. I can see the last video was low based on where it hit the net.

Not sure how I stumbled on this older thread but find it very interesting.  Hows your progress now.

I think you have a nice foundation and from this last video I see your ball position is so far forward in your stance.

Honestly, I’ve played like 10 times since I posted this… I’m trying to get back out there though. I might post another video just to get some feedback. I’ve fixed the ball position issue but believe I still struggle with left knee collapsing toward the right. I also learned of a new issue, which is somewhat related in that I hold the angle too long and don’t release the club very well. Angle if attack was -12 or so on my 7 iron.
