Now the last time I posted my swing video from the range one of you called out something askew. You were correct and I will point out who that insightful band member was in my next post. I went to Hutch after work today to see my swing doctor for a lesson. I wanted to forget about my poor iron performance yesterday and start grooving a new and improved iron swing. Hutch told me, "LP you are ............."

and then I thought jeez, our lead guitar player said that after I posted my swing video a couple of weeks back.

Besides at the range I also had to tell Jamal, Hutch's only child congrats on his performance at The North Carolina H.S. State golf tourney in Greensboro this week.  I've known them both since when at the range Jamal barely came up to my chest. He is a very calm and mellow teen. They have put in so much hard work I find it cool to see him starting to dominate in his sophomore year.

Sorry I missed last week....was back home with little to no service and didn't attempt to even get online.  Refreshing!!!

I am going with big hitters at TPC Craig -  Rahm, Decham, and Koepka

Sounds like the escape from the grid and the grind was therapeutic and needed. Hooray !

On behalf of all of us I say welcome back brother.

So I look behind me 3 hitting spots and see Jamal tatering low drives and working them both ways. Talented for sure. I think oh my IS HE smoking drivers off the deck? My gosh is this a real life example of Montana Pete right before me on the range?

Start studying and thinking ahead to who might make the grade for ya as our NEXT tourney is a Major. It's the PGA from the Lindsayland state. That means the stats department for that week is awarding double points. It too means a missed cut is a fat *ss minus six boys.

Pick carefully

And thanks going out to our resident savvy swing guru P3P. Indeed as he called out last time I do set up to closed with my lower body. I do it so often that I got 10 lashes with the switch (alignment rod) during yesterday's lesson! Often when I am set up actually square it feels wide open to me. Oh how ingrained habits are difficult to stop in this game.  Again we worked on me not coming over the top as I do 65% of the time. I had a blast at the range yesterday. Tomorrow after work will be my next test as the head pro has me playing with two of this season's newest caddies. The caddies need to get out for their first round and have me explain how the 100 year old Donald Ross track is best played. I think I am soon going to need senior flex shafts in my irons which is a bit tough to say. Here's the old blonde man and his 75 mph swing speed from yesterday. C'mom Montana man what new suggestions might you have in breaking down this swing video of mine?

I have no suggestions. Looks really good to me, but I am not a pro either. Also, all you have is a down the line video so it’s only 1/2 the story.

Now, Jamal generates a ton of power, but he is also built like Duvall, if you can, I would look at his swing again and see if there is a difference in the load/ backswing sequence if you want more pop.  Your coach and you would need to dissect your physical limitations vs the benefits.

Jamal is also be in high school and has many attributes akin to Gumby just based on age.  If I tried to swing like him I either A) blow up my back or B) prolapse my colon swinging so hard. Or if I did it perfectly, both.

I thank you for your analysis and will try to get a face on angle video next time. I too thank you for the early morning laugh. Indeed the youth factor that Jamal possesses adds to his flexibility and powerful swing.

My wife and I played at Crosswinds (next to the Savannah airport) a few springs ago.  Not a fancy course but a nice variety of holes and we enjoyed it.  Bonus was having the Georgia Air National Guards jets flying so low overhead that you could read the pilot's watch!  I played on an Air Force Base course quite often growing up but it wasn't as close to the flightline as this course is.  It's different to hit a shot with the ground shaking!

When you are on top in this list it means no Uber service is available in Asheville. When no Uber service is available one can end up fetching a few guests from the airport like I did today. Ah the many hats I can don in my line of work. Oh and Collard greens are just so fowl. They are indeed popular here in the south but man are they bitter and an acquired taste. The are humongous in size before they are cooked down. I see people with a few bunches of C greens in the their shopping carts (but they are called buggies here) which leave very little space for additional items.  lol    Please give me saute'd spinach instead.

I know the sensation. On occasion I played the course on Nellis AFB in Vegas. When the jets did maneuvers which was quite often I would be in disbelief that the fairways were so close to the aviation action. It really rumbled severely. It was a new golf sensation for sure.

Awesome. I may give it a try when I’m back down there in a couple weeks. I was going to play Bacon Park today but decided to get out of dodge before the rains came. Of my 5hr drive home, 3.5hrs were in rain.  What Air Force base when you were growing up, my dad is USAF! 🇺🇸

Runways and airplanes got me remembering a course that I played often in Vegas. The Las Vegas National on Desert Inn Rd. (the old Sahara golf club back in the Brat Pack era) was a great rather short golf course. It also had a famous movie scene filmed there. Being that doctoro loves anything Robert De Niro we played it together when he visited the commish. The course is lined with awesome mid century modern pads from back in the good old Vegas days. Sadly about half of them were left to decay. Now the one used in the scene was on the 18th fairway and is I'm happy to report preserved in all it's Casino movie action glory. I liked that track a great deal. It certainly was close to the Strip and convenient.

The first year I was there (1996) the TOUR had their stop at the  LV National and the Desert Inn. I went to see Freddie play there twice. He shot like 65 or better every time he played it. I have so many great golf memories of that vintage Las Vegas golf course.
