softest cord grips

I haven't played the UTX.  But I think the Golf Pride BCT's are very soft.  Coming from the Victory Cord and ZGrip it is taking a lot of getting used to because it is so soft.  I haven't never gone without a glove but had a full range session no problem without one last week.

Driver: Ping G410 LST (Diamana ZF)

Wedges: 51* Edel TRP, 55* Edel DVR, 60* Cally MD5

If you are looking for 'tack' specifically, I think UTx is a great option. Overall, I don't know that I would call UTx soft, at least overall - it is definitely on the firm side which I like (updating this as I agree with someone's comment on torque further down). The outer-layer does have a unique feel to it - tack/traction/slightly soft with the benefits of cord.

A couple others I'd throw out there that I've been trying lately:

Lamkin Taylormade Genesis Crossline Cord (the grip that comes std on MG2 wedges) - If someone were to ask me about the "softest" cord grip available, I'd say this is the grip. Soft rubber, slightly spongy, but are full-cord. I haven't been able to test these much yet in all conditions, but early impressions are good. I love firm grips, but I'm testing softer ones so I can save my hands in the long-run.

Lamkin Players Cord

This is essentially Lamkin's version of the Golf pride BCT. These have a great soft surface texture, full-cord, yet aren't spongy at all. Again, very similar to the GP BCT. They also come in a Std+ version with a larger lower hand

I want to say I played the UTx cord on a Srixon driver as the stock grip. Very soft, not a lot of cords for going gloveless, but perhaps just a little thin on the rubber or whatever the material is compared to some grips? Might not offer as much shock absorption compared to the GP BCT cords? (I find most true cord grips pretty firm and less shock help compared to same in non-cord.) Been a GP NDMC guy for a long time now.

I would say the Lamkin UTx is the softest one that I've tried.  The 3gen material helps a bit with shock absorption a bit more than the Lamkin Player's cord and the Golf Pride BCT.  I've used all 3 at some point, and personally thought the UTx was the softest.  I currently have the Player's Cord on my irons, wedges, hybrids and fairway woods.  I have the BCT on my driver.

The surface of Lamkin UTX are pretty soft in comparison to most cord grips and very tacky if looked after, but they are still pretty firm. They have exceptionally little torque which is great but the firm inner which allows this doesn't offer much vibration dampening in my opinion. I use them for the tackiness and lack of torque but may look elsewhere for some extra feel in the future... tending towards leather myself.

If you are really really lucky, I think the holy grail of soft cord grips as it's literally in the name of them are the old Golf Pride Trophy 'Softie' Cords. I had some on a set I sold and immediately regretted not buying a solvent needle gun purely to pull them. They are quite delicate so I knew a 'v-grip' remove tool would damage them so didn't bother, much to my dismay now as they were in great condition. They are the ones with the yellowy/gold colour paint fill but are unfortunately extremely rare these days.

Lamkin UTX - no glove and they’ve got nice combo of tackiness/traction. switched from Crossline cord and find UTX perform better in humidity and at dampening vibration

Good to know they are solid without a glove. I'm going to move on from MCC and want to try the UTX and the sticky 2.3 and see how they compare/holdup without a glove

I've played pretty much every cord grip there is, but I'll go over the most regular ones.

Most to Least

Texture/Cord:   Z Cord>Crossline Cord> Tour Velvet Cord> Players Cord> UTx

Firmness: Z Cord> UTx> Crossline Cord> Players Cord> Tour Velvet Cord

Z Cord - if you have hands like a water fountain these are for you. Otherwise might tear you up

Crossline cord- not as aggressive as Z cord, but can tear you up if you have softer hands

Tour Velvet Cord - middle ground for tack, texture and firmness. (personal favorite)

Players cord- very similar to TVC, but slightly less "cordy" imo, good overall grip

UTx - Most tack. Plays like a cord grip in terms of moisture, but is easier on the hands like a regular tour velvet. Feels too thin and firm though for me.
