Cobra RadSpeed fairway woods (RadSpeed, RadSpeed Draw, RadSpeed Big Tour) + RadSpeed hybrid

Recommended Posts

Got to play 8 holes yesterday evening before it got dark and hit the Big Tour 4 times. 3 times off the tee, once from from the left rough where I needed to draw the ball around some trees to get back to the fairway.

Based on a small sample size, this head appears to be fade biased. As someone who fights hooks, this is great news. Contact on 2 of the tee balls were slightly heel side and they both got up quickly and moved right about 10 yards right of my target line. Both were in the fairway. The 1 shot I centered was dead straight. No bend either way.

The shot I hit out of the left rough surprised me by not hooking as much as I tried to hook it. It still got around the trees, but it was on the right side of the fairway rather than on the left where I expected it.

Getting in a full 18 today on an unfamiliar course. Will try to use it as much as possible.

What shaft did you end up getting in it.  Did you still notice distance as good as Exotics?

I pre ordered a 3 wood and was just told they don’t have enough lefty heads so I won’t be receiving till end of march/early April. Likely going to cancel the order.

I preordered a tour fairway on Feb 2nd, heard nothing for weeks, then was told it’s back ordered until March 15 and the tour velvet 360 I ordered it with is back ordered until April.  Worst release ever.

well...

Radspeed is better than the other options out, it might be the best release of all time to me.

I don’t know what other company has done a face that wraps around so almost impossible to chip paint, but it is epically good. I have complete confidence hitting wild shots out of rough, not at all worried about where on the face I will be hitting it. Can swing like a crazy person at driver with no concerns.

and center face contact feels as good as any club I have hit, feels similar to the sim. I have purchased driver through seven Wood.

i’ll post GC quad and video when I can

I don't get why Cobra wouldn't incorporate this technology into the fairway woods - I'd think that skymarks are maybe more of a concern with a fairway wood.

Wait, so they do have that?? Granted, I haven't seen them in-person yet, but the renders definitely don't suggest that they have the sky-proof crown. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah I honestly didn’t know they had it until I saw in person, I guess it’s cause they don’t want to come off As clubs for amateurs, but not advertising that seems like it will probably hurt them more than help in the long run. I love it, was someone that sanded the paint off the top line on most gamer fairway woods once they got a scratch/mark in the top line.

probably never buying another set of woods or driver until something proves significantly better and has .....INFINITY FACE *echoes.

lol these corny names...radspeed with infinity face.

Hi guys,

I'm currently gaming the normal F9 3 wood, paired with a AD-DI 7s shaft. Absolutely love it! The feel and look at address is my favourite 3w that I've ever played. The performance and numbers are there to match.

However, I was told that the new Radspeed is significantly better than the F9 - in feel, forgiveness and ball speed.

One of the things I LOVE about Cobra woods is the rails - which makes hitting the wood from the fairway or rough - easy as ever.

Which is why I would prefer to get the standard RS over the big tour.

I personally haven't tried the Radspeed myself, but my question is:

1. Is the RS significantly better than the F9 like many people have mentioned? (Worth the upgrade?)

2. Would it be advisable to order the RS with the Motore X F3 shaft? Or stick with my AD-DI? (What is the difference in the shaft profiles relative to one another)

It’s all player dependent, but I doubt there are significant gains over the F9. And Both of those shafts are quality enough that you can probably make them work. I would keep the ADDI. See what happens since u love it. I have kept the same shaft with multiple versions of cobra fairways now.plug and play for me once swingweight Matched

The big benefit of the radspeed over the F9 is the infinity face.

  • 3 weeks later...

So today was the day to decide what would be the new 3w in my bag. Had done some self tests on a indoor monitor a few weeks ago at which Cobra Big Tour and Mizuno St-Z were the strongest contenders. Today I had scheduled time with a Cobra rep to do some in depth testing outdoors.

Main criterias for my new 3 wood,

  • Reduce two way misses which I've with my current 3w
  • Strong ball flight which is able to "pierce through" on windy days
  • Stable spin numbers to minimize surprises on the course.
  • Secure option from tee

During my self test it was clear that the Motore F1 wasn't the best for me (F3 in Mizuno was working way better). Last years Hzrdus Smoke Yellow in the Big Tour felt way better. Anyway started off with the Motore F1 to get some base line numbers, took a few swings in order to adapt to shaft and the perceived weighting but saw a good base to work of. Fitter got me the Hzrdus Rdx Blue and boom the consistency was there immediately, was able to swing more freely and with less effort generating higher club speeds (104 F1 vs 106 Rdx Blue)

Only concern here was that we were seeing perhaps abit too low spin, 2700-2800ish, still okey since my AoA was around +2-3. Fitter changed loft to 15,5 and flight was a bit higher but still boring and with 'better' spin around 3100ish. Best of all it wasn't going left on me, usually closing the head puts me off since I tend battle a hook. But even with the increase in loft the head didn't look closed. Tested the regular Radspeed as well but with it's more drawy setup I was sending the ball left, consistent results but to the left.

To summarize, the Mizuno was clearly the better option with off shelf specs but was spinning way too much. Indoor the distance was very close but outdoors today with a quite strong right to left, headwind the Mizuno was suffering, stalling in the wind, being 20 yards shorter than Cobra. Great to catch greens but not aligned with my 3w criterias.

With some great help and knowledge from the Cobra rep the Big Tour was fine tuned to perfection. Final order was Big Tour @ 15,5 with Hzrdus Smoke RDX Blue 70g 6.5, all at very good price

I just got the RAD Speed Tour 5 wood yesterday.  I traded in a M3 3HL for it, and took it to the range immediately.  I could tell right off the bat that this was going to be a better fit for me than the M3 just from turf interaction alone.  It's also easier to elevate off the deck if I need to hit a higher shot.  I had it set to 16.5*, while the M3 HL was set 1 click higher for loft.  I normally don't keep stock shafts just because I like to tinker, but I may keep the Motore F1 that came with it.  It felt really good.

I was fitted for the Radspeed 7 wood with the Evenflow Riptide 5.5R 50 gram shaft by a Cobra rep at a local shop. The idea is to eliminate left misses with a hybrid i had. I now have a high launching draw that will stop on the green. And the bottom rails are a great bonus for hitting out of the rough. A no brainer.

I’ve never heard of someone playing the driver shaft heavier than the 7 wood shaft. Some gains being left on the table im guessing

I originally was between a TSI2 and standard RadSpeed 3W...I loved them both and thought the ball exploded off the Rad much more but I went with the TSI2 as it had better dispersion for me.  I've had it on the course a couple times and i've had a couple Tin Cup moments where I should be able to hit X distance it was just off by a couple yards....I know I have the yardage in my swing and I hit it great each time..

Now I am contemplating if I should go with the hotter club and make the move to the Cobra...not sure whether the standard or Big Tour might be the route to take.
