Best time of year to sell used irons?

Me personally from a buyer's perspective I would buy used balls and clubs when the demand is at its lowest (like in the winter) for the lowest prices.  So a seller like yourself should sell them in the Spring and Summer when the demand is higher.

Titleist 990 (3-PW) with stock Dynamic Gold in S300
Taylormade V-Steel 5W & 3W with Grafalloy Prolaunch Red shafts (Regular Flex)

Rife Island Series Aruba Blade Putter

"Loft for loft, length for length, and shaft for shaft, the ball will go the same distance when hit on the sweet spot regardless how old the iron."

Wait until at least the Spring to see how cvd is going to shape the season and gage demand.  If things stay as they were this past year, then demand will be higher.  If all goes back to normal (no f'n chance), then demand will be less with the potential of a glut of equipment hitting the markets.  Either way, wait.

This depends on age of irons, model of irons, iron characteristics (R or S shafts would outsell PX 7.0 or X100), and spot market for the month.

Remember that time is money. Sell them for $300 on Ground Hog Day, rather than have them unsold for $400 by Fourth of July. And if you can get a person-to-person sale, this eliminates the hassle of shipping and tracking.

Selling irons as trade-in is iffy. Generally not a good deal, unless OEM gives you 50% bonus. But, then they're off your hands.

Used market is going to be weird this season... I’d suggest keeping an eye on prices for clubs similar to yours and pull the trigger when they are selling at a decent rate...

used market was crazy and prices were high all season in 2020... so the question becomes: is supply still tapped out to the point prices will remain high? Or has demand ebbed enough to hurt overall prices.

honestly, I’d say figure out what you think you can get for them, put them on the bst and see what happens... I’ve had clubs I thought I priced decently get 15 offers in as many minutes and some old random stuff I priced to get rid of sit unsold...

if you don’t get the price you want, repost them in a few months.

I’d list here and on ebay now for your asking price and worst case it does not sell. You can always keep up or repin in the spring. If you’re in no rush to sell, stick to your guns and keep your asking price where it is. Someone will bite eventually.

Yeah, I’ve sold multiple clubs over the last couple of weeks and a couple have been surprisingly quick. Can’t hurt to post now, and if you don’t get the price you want can always re-post in the Spring. Selection now is probably lower than it will be in the Spring, and the guy that bought my Driver told me he was actually watching online waiting to snatch one up for a couple of weeks before I posted it.

All great points.  Time IS money and I don't have to explain to wife why I have 2 sets of irons.

I just tell my wife that these days, there are about 14-15 clubs in each set of irons and they often look different from each other.  I'm sure she definitely believes me.

All her purses look the same to me so I am sure she has a system.

That worked until the entire left side of the garage was full of golf bags with clubs in them...😄

You just need to find a golf bag with 30-50 slots for clubs.

Or a larger garage

Time is money depending on what you have.  I put very little time into selling things.  Rarely ever lose money on something, usually just buy to try and flip for same or make.

As for 2 iron sets, that isn't much at all and easy to hide...  I'm sitting on 5 bags and 9 iron sets and that is from selling stuff off...
