Tensei Pro Discussion (60g vs heavier & Mixing Colors)

Curious about the effect of increased weights in these shafts and how noticeable that would be. I'm happy with my 60TX Orange, but that's in my driver and I'm looking for a fairway shaft here. 

 

I'm looking to replace my 3w and might end up purchasing a particular Tour Issue head to get the geometry & face angle that I'm after (M6 probably). I see a lot of 70TX and 80TX shafts out there and I'm curious how different those are from my 60TX. Some say weight is merely about feel. Others say a 60TX and an 70TX are two entirely different beasts. Just hoping to hear some opinions on that. FWIW, I'm thinking of a 60TX or a 70TX in this 3w. No reason for me to go as heavy as 80 in this case. 

 

Secondly, does anyone out there mix colors? I like the Orange in my driver but I'd really like to experiment with the White in this 3w. Orange would likely be a safe bet but I've always wanted to try the White and never have.

 

I feel like the Blues I've tried had a spongier feel. I can play that but I'm just not sure I love it for this application. Maybe that helps hit the ball a bit higher (or turn it over) but I'm imagining this 3w as more a low-traj bullet/power-fade type club for tee shots, something that can complement my driver which flies high and can draw. I think stiffer is better in this case.

 

Has anyone directly compared the Orange and White? Curious what differences in feel and launch might come from that.

My $.02- I played both pro orange and pro white at some point last year and thought they felt quite similar, but the orange is counterbalanced.   The orange was a complete push/slice machine for me, white a little less so.  If you don't like blue I feel that white would be a good choice for a FW head unless you wanted to add some weight to the head to balance the handle of the orange.

I disagree with the "different beasts" comment regarding the weight classes. The only thing that changes noticeably besides weight is balance point. The Pro Orange becomes increasingly more counterbalanced as the weight class goes up. 

 

As for mixing colors, the Orange in the driver and White in the fairways is really the only combo I've seen. Similar profiles but a little more linear and counterbalanced for the driver for some extra speed and stability while the White in the fairway has a little more kick. It is all personal preference though.

I agree with @Valtiel weight classes are not inherently different, unless you purposely go with a different bend profile.  In my hands a heavier shaft simply calms my transition.

I play the Pro White 1k in 60TX in my driver. I didn't like the pro white in my 3w, it did not get the ball up enough for me, so ended up going with the AV Raw Blue 75TX in my 3 wood.

This right here.  Most players will that play low/low shafts in general will not find the same profile low/low shaft will fit with their 3 metal including myself.  I have the Ventus Black in my driver and the TB which is considered the latest gen blue board profile(although I think it plays between the white and blue) in my 3 metal.  To the OP, if you're dead set on a low/low shaft in your 3 metal, you can't go wrong with the pro white.  It's def for players that struggle with high spin.

I have been testing PO 60tx vs 70tx and maybe this is purely transition related but 70tx is tip stiffer.  It is a chore to turn over,  which I prefer to eliminate left miss but has reduced launch angle too much.  The tinkering is endless.
