Pxg gen4 0811x vs everything else….

Never done well with the 0811 X. My swing is not made for a low spin driver and should of gone with the XF or the 0211. All my fault on getting the wrong driver.  What I did to correct my stupidity of selection is to go with the Rogue ST MAX . Which works wonderfully but always thinking did I just spend too much money? Answer: Yes. Will give a shot to the 0211 or XF next year.

Driver: Callaway Paradym 9 set to 10 Draw

So I have been playing a XT this whole year, recently ordered another one during the fire sale. Someone mentioned that X actually spins less than XT so I got a 7.5 X head this time.

Looking at the two head, I really can't understand how it is possible that X would spin less than XT. At first glance, X head felt like the R9 super deep with its more sloped crown, giving the impression of a much taller face. But I put the two face side by side and X is taller but not by much. What really contributed to the significant crown slopping is where the back edge sits. I found the below photo from a review site that perfectly shows the side profile of the two. XT is on the left and you can see clearly how much higher the back weight sits. We all know that a lower CG would increase launch angle and spin. The article did mention that X model was the lowest spin model in Gen 2 but they also didn't have a XT model.

In any event. Tomorrow I am going to take the X out to try and see how it performs.

Hit maybe 10 balls with the X paired with S+ 60X shaft I have used all season and had to call it off.. I am amazed how different it sounds from the XT. A solid strike from the XT is more a cracking thud but the X sounds like a tin can. I thought they all had the TPE insert and really didn't expect much of a difference at all when it comes to sound. To exaggerate it a little bit but really not by much, it's like hitting a notorious Nike Sumo vs a Titleist 907.

Secondly, I am not sure why the X feels much larger when swinging. Visually they have about the same shape and dimension from the top, and I'd guess their volumes are the same.  So I have no idea where that feel comes from.

So far I am not a fan of the X. Granted 10 balls can't tell the whole story but these are the first impressions.

I've have the X and had the XT for a bit and favored the X as it performed better for me. The XT has more of a pearl shape head which was made to promote a fade and spins more and initially developed for higher swing speed players. The X has a taller face and is shorter front to back. I personally love be the look. Sound is subjective, Gen4 sounds a perfect thud to me, while Gen5 sounds louder as it was designed to be. Gen5 0311 soundwise is easy to get use to IMO and performs just like Gen4 X with more forgiveness. Not going to go wrong with either of those 2 heads.

Both my X and XT are Gen 4, that's why I am very surprised that X sounded that much more metallic.  I hope I didn't get a dud where the TPE is missing.

Side by side profile shows that X is actually slight longer front to back. Perhaps that's why it felt a tiny bit larger while swinging.
