According to ^^ this page, for my iPad-only use case where (I think) FSX Pro is the only app that can be used, there is no difference between the Basic and Silver, and the Gold adds Group Data and Dispersion Circles. I feel I can just stick to basic until I get a gaming PC and a proper setup for simulation to play courses.

With the BLP you get the Gold Package for a month to try along with basic for a year. That should give you a pretty good idea (especially when gold runs out) of what you can expect. I just got the GC3 with a gaming laptop with the latest graphics card that will do the job for $940.  It was an inevitable purchase and I wanted it to be portable and then hook-up to the big screens via HDMI.

I go from device via Wi-Fi to PC, PC via HDMI to TV.

I haven’t uploaded the latest FW yet. It happens randomly or if the USB-C connection at the launch monitor is bumped. It doesn’t seem to be a super sturdy connection there. Any contact with it above moving the unit around will cause it to lose connection to my PC and then it’s all over and I have to restart everything. 
 

That happens rarely because I’m hyper aware of it and if a ball rolls that way I intercept it.

The barometer doesn’t seem to be working. I haven’t seen anyone post that it’s accurate and a lot of people post it’s inaccurate. 
 

I am about 100’ above sea level but the unit reads 300’+ UNDER sea level. Since I’m so close to sea level, and my temperature is usually less than the standard 80 degree setting I just use that and assume the temp and altitude offset each other. At least for my location. 
 

You can adjust it via FSX 2020 to get more accurate numbers, but on a basic sub, you’re not able to use that work around

Mine is generally within ~30ft of the "true" elevation.

wow. That’s great. Did you by any chance calibrate it (if its even possible)?

No calibration that I'm aware of. I know guys who leave their GC3/LP running for long periods of time see a temperature related drift in the barometer due to heat from the electronics.

Mine changes with the weather.  I’m at 930’ and most of the time it is around there.  Super clear high pressure days it reads up to 1100 and nasty low pressure days it reads as low as ~680.  Generally only a few yards of difference between the two.  I practiced for a trip to Colorado and set it at the 9300’ elevation one of the courses played at and got about 2 clubs more carry on average than local.  Difference between a few hundred feet is less than the difference between a prov1x and a pro v1…not much.

I installed FSX 2020 and no issues. FSX Play and I can't get Paris range and when I try to update from the courses tab it just freezes and says its looking for the download manager. Any ideas?

Updated to newest firmware. No issues after a 3 hour practice session. 
 

I haven’t updated to play yet, but the courses on 2020 are noticeably better with graphics lately. 
 

With all the drain on your computer, I’m not sure if it’s even worth the upgrade.

Opened a trouble ticket last weekend on this issue exactly. Here is there response which worked for me. I’ve been playing Play now and love the graphics upgrade but I have a 3070ti gpu. Only thing I dislike is the stupid Paris driving range. I have just been using a coarse hole to practice on.

Thanks, this literally took 3 minutes to resolve. The Download Manager was not activated. I was able to download the remaining courses, update courses, and get the Paris loaded from the Courses tab. That was a lot easier than downloading individual files.

Anyone using the FSX Pro app? I have been watching the tutorials and this thing is slick! My first mission may be to compare some driver shafts or ball brands. I am going down the rabbit hole!

In reference to my earlier post, I noticed when I practiced for the 9 hole monthly tournament on a course that it looked normal. However when I played in the tournament, the course looked better graphically. Are they using the play engine on the monthly comps, or does it just look better for the comps for some reason?

Anyone resolve licensing courses on FSX 2020 and Play simultaneously? I followed their suggested article on deactivating from FSX Live account and re-licensing them, but that’s not working. Have about 5 courses I purchased like Harbor Town that I can’t license on both platforms at the same time.

Hi guys I’m not sure if this is edited in the right area I’ve had my GC3 for over 3 months no issues plugging it up yesterday to play a game and it’s saying device is locked has anyone else experienced this it just says contact technical support I had it plugged in to usb in gaming computer and it wouldn’t load that was how I noticed it.

Has anyone noticed that their alignment stick doesn’t set up parallel to the unit?

 

my unit consistently indicates it is 2* pointed left when I place it parallel to the unit. 
 

do I need to get it serviced?

When I set mine up to what I think is parallel with the stick I have to turn the unit what I think is left or toe in vs the stick.

How are you measuring when the stick is parallel to the unit? Eyeballing it?

I use something parallel to the unit (edge of mat, different stick, grout line, etc) and then use the calibrating alignment stick. 
 

The unit always reads the stick as 1.5-2* left if it is parallel.

I tried mine on the floor.

 

The stick was slightly bent while in the travel bag but when I straightened it it was 0.0 degrees:)

 

Make sure there is no metal interference around. Without  moving the stick the reading jumped around a lot before settling in on zero degrees.

mine is 1.5-2* left in multiple environments. Very consistent. Guess I’ll email them.

We are making a few adjustments and re-printing version 2.0 soon

I use a laser for target line too while practicing.
