Bushnell Launch Pro Device with Foresight

looking for some guidance from the experts here 🙂 I bought a used GC3 and have access to the FSX accounts. I don't intend to set up a home set up hooked up to a PC etc but rather use it at the range for myself and my kids with an ipad. A few questions

 

1. If the main use case is range, is FSX Pro the only option? If so, if I don't have wifi at the range, I am assuming I can't store the sessions? Is it then better to use my phone instead? (or maybe use the phone as a hotspot?)

2. It looks like FSX Pro is mainly showing a range and stats. Is there a way to get some courses or games through FSX Play or Live for the kids to mess around on the range without lugging around a laptop?

You’d connect to the device(GC3) WiFi, go through your range session and then when you connect the iPad to WiFi or a hotspot after the session it will upload to FSX live.  It will also store the session locally on the iPad.  There’s no gamification available though without a computer/laptop with an appropriate nvidia graphics card.

Restarted FSX Play, and got the installing course prompt….but the course doesn’t show up in My Library in FSX Play.

 

Where did it go?

For a BLP subscription, you apparently have to deactivate the course in FSX 2020 after downloading the course in FSX Play.

It pops right up in your course list.

Funny thing happened. I take lessons at golftec (I know I know) and they use a GCQuad with club data. The sticker arrangement is on the heel and toe of the club but not the center like the “1 dot mode.” I come back home to my gc3 and hit expecting a wild reading, but nope. It reads perfectly. Makes me wonder if Foresight is artificially gimping the amount of metrics on the GC3 and we could potentially have V and H impact. After all this is the same company that told early adopters of the GC3 that FSX play was a free upgrade :)

I am pretty sure you need the 4th camera to get the rest of the club data to the degree necessary to track lie, contact point, etc, but I like how you think.  I do think that the bluetooth button is something they will eventually activate. Hopefully more surprises are forthcoming.

I had to deactivate on FSX Live for the courses to show up.

my 30 day gold free trial just ended so was downgraded to basic (not a problem as i bought the device to use with ipad basic since the club data was added). today, loaded up the fsxpro app and now AOA, club path, spin, etc. are locked saying that i need to upgrade to silver/gold. called support and they basically told me to wait until foresight updates the app... this seems like a ridiculous responses.

same confusion here, you can see the data on the BLP screen but now not in the app any more...unclear to me and apparently to Bushnell as well what the business model and product feature set is? If you "upgrade" you pay full price thus losing the value of the "free first year" $249 for Basic? I sort of expected to pay the difference between Basic and Gold to upgrade for the first year, not 100% for Gold. So I passed on that opportunity!

This is ridiculous, same thing for me as my golf trial just needed.  Getting these data points was the deciding factor to purchase this device with basic subscription.

Lol. Thats so pathetic. They just have a good (old) technology and is capitalizing on a monopoly position. I hope new companies come in and mop the floor with them.

Did anyone upgrade to firmware 1.6 successfully?

 

Mine updated, then I shut it down.

 

Next day on range it said not successful in the update, reverted to 1.5 and has locked me out with a V24 W33 Device Error message.

I tried it twice and it took what seemed to be at least 10 minutes just to time out. I restarted the unit and tried it again and it quickly loaded up no problem.

I was able to navigate to the firmware download submenu again despite the error message and it stayed on downloading 0% for a long time .

I cancelled it, but I’ll try again.

I went to firmware again and it’s not giving me the oppo to update.

 

It also says the device is not registered. 
It also says total number of shots hit in the counter menu is zero, in session number 1

 

Its like it needs to be activated again.

I was thinking/feeling the same way.  I was looking to upgrade my Mevo+ with pro package setup with a GC3 but Im staying put.  All the issues I’m reading about within this thread for the prices their charging is just plain redonkulous!

Yeah sit tight - I had your set up and moved to unlocked BLP. Initial cost to buy a GC3/ unlock BLP aside, the pricing model for their courses is whats completely out of date. I can not justify a single course download for $250 when I can use GS Pro with all available courses for $250 a year. I enjoy my unlocked BLP and will take a hefty loss when I eventually sell but I am eager to see Uneekor's eye mini and their software support and I'll happily take the loss on the Foresight device to jump.

It’s been mentioned before but just remember that the majority of people having a great experience are not coming to this forum to rave about it. People tend to only post the negative experiences. I’ve had BLP since June and have really only had 1 negative experience and it was user error.  Their CS has been great when I’ve had to call. Other than that it’s been outstanding. Use it almost nightly. Takes about 3 minutes to walk out to garage and play the pitch and putt course. Again, not trying to convince you to buy it just playing a little devils advocate.

Mine has been enjoyable and informative.  I'm a club short indoors but every time I take it outdoors it's back to normal distances so I attribute that to me

i loved using the blp but the reason i chose to buy it over other units or waiting was because i could use the basic package (club data) with an ipad... false advertisement

 

i wouldn't mind if i was a sub 1k unit but this is ridiculous for the amount of money we spent. i also think how bushnell is handling the situation by telling me to just wait an indeterminate time for an update is insane. they won't even give me a temporary silver/gold trial until the app is fixed.

I sent emails to both Bushnell and Foresight, but no response yet.  Did they give you a timeframe of when this app might be fixed?

nope..  the guy i spoke to had no idea. i told him how ridiculous his response was to ask me to "just wait for the update" for an indeterminate amount of time. 

 

supposedly he send an email to foresight as "top priority" so ill let you know if i hear anything

 

can't even return the thing because i bought from a 3rd party dealer

You two have been most active in this thread the last few pages. Do you both use the blp at home predominantly over a grass range? Has using it improved your game?

I use it mostly at home.  Once you take it to a range and use wet or worn range balls you're kind of over the whole grinding on the range thing.  Spin numbers are typically nowhere close as well as vertical launch angle to a premium ball.  I haven't been using it as much of late as I'm closing out the tourney time of our outdoor season and life is just a little busier so I hit maybe once a week in the Sim and play a round plus 9 hole league per week.  Handicap ended at 7.5 last fall and got down to 5.8 but it's creeping back up(6.4) with poorer iron play of late mostly due to lack of practice on the GC3. Looking forward to continuing the swing work and further improving technique again this offseason.  The one thing I've been most surprised with is how much it has improved my short game.  I'm 2 shots better per round this year...really improving a ton from 20-60 yards.  I can't think of a more fulfilling thing that I've ever purchased for myself.  Foresight is not without their faults...I had some issues right away last fall and again going through the issues with FSX Play earlier but all seems to be OK now.

Yeah, it's bizarre that for such a large company it almost seems like there's no established QTP process at all.

I use it at the range at the club and on the course.

We have TP5x range balls so data is great.

 

We also have a top 50 D1 college player in the house and a high school sophomore who is 2 hdcp

 

We get our $$$$$$s worth daily.
