Anyone else got these in play?

Just curious if anyone else has these irons in play. I have had mine since Nov. but only have 2 rounds on them as I was trying to get the right shafts for me in them and just hit range balls mostly till I went with the 850 Nippons. Anyway, my question is does anyone else that plays these have issues with ball durability? After completely shredding some Pro V's and TP Reds I moved to the Burner TP balls in still shredded those also. A ball was lasting about 4 holes! These irons are incredible, I just hope that if the grooves/milled faces have this much grab that it will wear down SOME after a few rounds. Maybe I need to stop "attacking" the ball so too.

Shredding Balls.

I have had a few set's of r7TP heads that I sold to customers. One reason for the ball shredding is the groves have to be CNC milled. I've only seen the same problem (if it is) on the Nakashima irons, as they CNC mill all their irons. I hope this helps

this was common with milled faced vokeys as well. It will taper off as they wear, but I would think that irons will probably hold an edge longer than wedges, cause they don't get as dirty.

 

If you really wanted to stop them, you could go practice fairway bunker shots for a half hour. Milling-B-Gone!

I love the action I get with the irons, just don't love going through a half dozen balls per round. I mean I can get a 5 iron to almost stop on a dime! You guys answered wanted I wanted to know though, at least with use it will taper off.

The TP Forged are probably going to end up being one of my favorite sets I have ever had once I wear down the faces a little. They are super soft, softer than the r7 Forged, slightly smaller than the r7 forged and slightly less forgiving than the r7 Forged. You can hit any shot you want with these irons and if I didn't have to pay for balls they would be perfect now! In case you haven't hit the r7 Forged they IMO are a MUCH better feeling r7 TP. They are just as forgiving as the r7 TP's also. Hope this gives you a little idea. Heck, if you can find the r7 Forged that may be the way to go! I have thought about selling mine since I got the TP Forged but they are such a great iron I just can't seem to part with them which is very odd for me! :)

Both of these sets you can't go wrong with IMO.

One thing I do when my irons shred balls, I go to the fairway bunker and hit many shots with each club. It reduces the sharpness of the grooves and it gives them a little character if they're brand new :D

Is the leading edge of the TM R7 Tp Forged sharp or round ?

 

The leading edge of the Cally X-Forged is pretty sharp and will dig a bit too much on wet fairways..........maybe the TM R7 Tp Forged irons might be a bit more round in the leading edge area ?

No they would cover the 2 and 3 iron - especially if you buy them with the Rombax graphics shaft installed !

There is no 4 iron coverage in the Rescue Tp hybrid series unfortunately

Thanks partner. I may have to go burner hybrids then because I do not want to take a chance in bending these hybrids. These irons are sweet and cannot believe that the U.S. market will not see them in the stores.

It's wierd how they can be softer than R7 forged since they are both forged from the same carbon, also the mill marks do not look to be as present as the 05 Miura TP CB's. I am weighing my options, but after seeing the offset like the R7 forged had I may just have to pull my satin set of Lehman Box Toes out of the closet that have hardly been hit any and play them....either way they are a great looking set of irons, too bad they are not coming to the US so I could give them a try without dropping 1000 plus......

For me...those replace a 2 iron and 3iron. Still have the 4 iron in the bag, with the R7 Forged. Play a 19 to replace the 5 wood, the 22 to replace the 3 iron, and have a 26 coming to replace the 4 iron.

You won't see any US PGA Tour players using them as they are not allowed. Guys like Weir (r7 Forged...same rules) and any European PGA player can but not US. I have 2 sets of the r7 Forged and don't see any need to move to the TP Forged. The r7 Forged are the best irons I've hit to date with one exception and that would be the Lehman Box Toe 300's.

Well I picked up a 5-PW set and just ordered a 3 and 4 iron thru Tourspec to complete the set, I play 4-PW and a 22 Hybrid so I will be putting the Lehman Box Toe 300's in the backup bag and putting these to the test, way too many positive reviews for me to resist being a Taylor Made guy!
