looking to book a 2 nightgolf break for 8 of us

we all play between 10-28 handicap

where would you suggest? must be 2 courses on site

Saunton if you want top class Links. Woodhall Spa if you want a classic heathland and an excellent modern design (zero night life mind you). Carden Park near Chester is excellent. If you want to sneak into Wales Celtic Manor is always offering deals.

with no one better than a 10 I dont think either of those is going to hit the mark, especially Woodhall, 149 slope lol

 

assuming this is moved to the travel section where it should be, give us some info op. Where are you coming from, whats the budget, what time of year, etc. Question is too vague.

Difficult to be precise with the info that you have given. That said, my first thought was and I appreciate that it’s not England but Celtic Manor is just a stones throw away. Everything you could need on site - 3 courses, accommodation, restaurants and there always seems to be plenty of deals to be had.

Well depends where in the country you want to go, near me (cheshire) there are 4 resorts that are really good

 

Macdonald Portal (not far off carden park but probably cheaper)

 

Carden park (best courses and best hotel)

 

Hill Valley (second course isnt the best)

 

Hawkestone Park (hotel a bit dated)

 

I have stayed and played all these

It's the resort language which throws me off. That really means inferior golf compared to the best 36+ hole clubs. The time of year is also very important. 

 

Saunton has the somewhat posh Saunton Sands overlooking the courses. 

 

Formby and Formby Ladies has an old school dormy house. It's easy to take the train to Southport for dinner. The station is practically in the parking lot.

 

Princes has a nice lodge attached and Sandwich is next door. 

 

It's easy to get a hotel in Southport and play Hillside and Birkdake.

Tell you what, Woodhall Spa and Seacroft is a lovely combo. Done it a few times... be sure to stay in Woodhall Spa 😉

Yeah, I did the Prince's & RSG double on a package back in '16 - with one night at the lodge. Lodge was very nice and included dinner. Rate was reasonable for what you were getting...and if you had a 3rd day available you could add R Cinque Ports. Not sure if they still do that package deal

Do you really want/need a "golf resort"? There are so many excellent 36 hole combinations that can be played in England where you can get excellent accommodations in close proximity but where the courses are not onsite.
