I voted points system because JYK won.

BUT

Nelly's Major and Gold Medal were BIG factors that would have had more consideration, I believe, in a players vote.

But Nelly is unmarketable...so I think that would have a negative impact on a player's vote.🤣

Lydia has an unfair advantage in a player's vote.

There's so much bias in a player's vote...Lydia knows how to play to an audience...she's so well trained by Tina.

When Lydia 1st joined the tour...didn't Tina put a box of chocolates into each player's locker???

I prefer the points based system, but they do have to figure out how to factor in the Olympics. Sure, it's a limited field event, but it's not like they don't play limited field events.

don't they factor the Olympics in Rolex Rankings already?   and if so, then I see no issue "factoring" it in the POY award...

The "exception" is that in most limited field events on the LPGA you can have several top ranked players from the United States, Korea, Thailand, etc. playing whereas in the Olympics, its severely limited to just 4 players per country (U.S. and Korea).

I tend to agree though, there could be some method of factoring in points -- even if it is a much smaller points being awarded to reflect the significantly weaker strength of the field, etc.

I think the points system is definitely the most fair.  There probably should be some credit given for the Olympics.  While it is quite a limited field, most likely any players in the POY race would have qualified for the Olympics so they would all have a chance for those points.

in the same vein, I think the LPGA points based HOF is the best and fairest system for choosing members.  I do think there should be a close look at possibly lowering the number of points needed.  (And get Lorena in!)

On a side note...for 2022.

We will have to see how JYK's wrist heals.

IMO....Nelly's secret weapon over JYK is her CONFIDENCE and power with her driver....seems like each time....she can count on hitting a power draw.

I don't recall Nelly getting too wild with the driver...and the LPGA has minimal rough....so the rough is a non factor for Nelly's power.

With Nelly's POWER over JYK....Nelly will hit 2-3 clubs shorter into greens than JYK....therefore likely better proximity to the hole to sink birdies....assuming Nelly's flat stick cooperates.

Nelly's other weapon is her ability to reach par 5's in 2 over JYK....if that alone equates to 1 more birdie per rd...that's 4 strokes in an event.....the difference between a winner and 2nd place loser.

It's too bad...neither has a STEP ON YOUR THROAT attitude like Crusty or Suzann....in my books.....that  would play a key role to wins.

There are no Korean female pros with that persona....but maybe one day Korea will produce one....watch out then....but this is unlikely to happen

The Korean culture is quite reserved...especially for the women....a public aggressive behavior for women is so frowned upon.

This Korean lady I know...HATES guys who act like TOOLS on the course with a bad temper.

Hmmm.........what about Sung Hyun Park and maybe even Ha Na Jang. 😈

Namdalla is not a mean spirited pro.

Ha Na "The Hulk" Jang is a free spirit....dancing and prancing and rubbing it your face when she wins.

Ha Na simply let's her Dad do all the DIRTY WORK and throw LUGGAGE to injure other players.🤣

Actually, Ha Na's dad seems like a nice guy...he passed by me twice with a smile...but then again....I don't have a daughter that was trying to beat Ha Na out of a spot on the 2016 Korean Olympic women's golf team.

There was a huge Korean guy following Ha Na carrying a BC Card umbrella. I don't know if he was Ha Na's brother or a private security guard to prevent a Flying Dumbo from breaking Ha Na's knee cap...a la...Nancy Kerrigan.

Both Namdalla and Ha Na don't have the NASTINESS to win like Crusty Kerr.

You've been to so many LPGA events...have you chatted with a Flying Dumbo or Attack Girl?

I've chatted with 4 Flying Dumbos...3 flew in from Korea...they were hilarious.

I hope Namdalla is still playing well...so I can meet some Attack Girls at the 2023 CWO here in Van City....they seem like a GREAT group of ladies.

Well, as it is now the end of the calendar year, there are many unofficial honours for players of the year and Golf is no different.    And somehow, I don't think it will be decided by whoever writes the most!

A look at this year's candidates for the Women's Player of the Year:

Were you needing space filler for your article?🤣

No need to discuss Patty....Patty was such a distant 3rd compared to JYK and the unmarketable Nelly.

Apart from the money....I'm think most golfers and JYK would rather have Nelly's 2021 titles...especially the Women's PGA and Olympic Gold medal.

The POY was awarded more than a month ago...if you want hits to your site/blog...you should be writing about how FIGJAM won the PIP...just sayin.🤣

These are the traditional, end of year honours . . . like the SI Athlete of the Year, the CP Women's Athlete of the Year, those types and Golf has their's too . . .
