Motorized push carts

I started with a non-remote kangaroo and permanently gave up pushing a cart.  We don't have a cart barn, so the cart had to be assembled and disassembled every round which took less than a minute. Disassembled, the cart doesn't take up that much trunk space. Each component is in the 15-30 lb weight range so no one piece is a problem weight wise.  Parts are readily available with excellent customer service. I pimped out the cart with clicgear accessories.  As has been said before, the cart is built like a tank, and is still going strong at about 20 years of age.

The ONLY issue that i had with the kangaroo was the humming noise of the motor/gears.  The noise made it difficult to hear a conversation while holding the handles.

I also didn't feel I could move the cart when someone nearby was playing a shot, as the noise could distract them. I prefer to be able to walk while someone else is hitting.

Two years ago, I bought a used remote version of the kangaroo, to get the noise away from me.  On my hilly course with a lot of uneven ground, i didn't find the remote very useful. There were too many occasions where i couldn't run it without keeping a hand on the handle. I bought the wheelie bar for it which keeps it from tipping over backwards.  But the weight of the wheelie bar makes it more inclined to tip back, at which point you have to stop it right it.  I gave up on the remote, and just used the hand guided kangaroo.

I was impressed by how quiet the motocaddy carts were, that members at my home course had. I picked up an M1 in with extended life battery last year.  It isn't as stable as the old kangaroo, but if you have a hand on the handle, it really doesn't matter. Space wise the cart with the wheels left in the running position barely fits in my trunk along with my golf bag. The only thing that I don't care for on the motocaddy, is the OEM score card holder. I made my own version using the OEM mounting bracket.

Just to add to this for anyone who comes across this thread looking for info on electric carts, a 6 months no interest credit offer spurred me into action (not that it takes much), and I purchased the MGI ZIP X1 for $549 recently.  Used it today for the first time, one one of the more hilly courses in the area, and it was an absolutely joy.  I don't see why anyone would pay $900-$1000 more for a remote simply because it allows them to send the cart to the next tee while they are on the green (or whatever else they are for).  I literally walked half the round along-side the cart, and most of the other time, barely guided it with one hand.  And when I did have to guide it two-handed, it required no exertion at all.  I know they bill this as an 'entry-level' cart, but I'm guessing that, for anyone who wants to go electric, this would suffice for 99% of the market.

I ended up getting the batcaddy x4r and so far am very happy.  The real test will be how long it lasts and how dependable it is.  Initially I was leaning strongly towards getting one without a remote, but posters in this thread seemed to strongly prefer the remote.  I’m so glad I posted and got that advice as it was well worth the extra money to get the remote.  It is very convenient to be able to walk and drink something and drive it around the green after putting and things like that.
thanks for all the suggestions.  So far this is some of the best money I’ve spent on golf.  I tried standard pushcarts and carry bags, and while they all were just fine, I still found myself riding more than I want to.  With this cart I definitely walk almost every time I play, which is nice.

After several rounds using my electric now, I'd totally agree.  I haven't missed a remote at all, as I'm still able to walk most of the round hands-free, but to each his own on that issue.  Guess you'd have to try it both ways to really know for sure whether or not the remote is worth the additional expense.  My buddy has a remote version of the MGI, and he still seems to have to guide it quite a bit depending on terrain.  What I do know is that remote or not, using an electric cart makes the game even more enjoyable - or less miserable at least.  Congrats on your purchase.

The Stewart X9 is quiet enough that I have to look behind sometimes to be sure it's still following.

It did have a"knock" for awhile until I figured out what it was.  My bag was moving up and down just enough on the bottom support to make the noice.  I glued a piece of carpet to the bag support and all is good.

Finally bought the V2 Booster and took it out on the course for a few holes after work today.

Very easy to control. No issues with hills or anything. I took it over some rough terrain just to test it and it was fine.  Easy to put together at the course.

Very happy so far

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
