Boise Private Clubs

Anyone provide guidance on finding a private club that’s not $30k initiation?

 

looking to join a decent club and while the annual dues aren’t terrible the initiation fees are high compared to what I’m used to back home.

Only 3 clubs here (4 if you count the River Club) are Spurwing, Hillcrest, and Crane Creek.

I dont know the costs but I have a friend who is a member at Crane, and I have played it numerous times. Its a great club and my favorite course out of the 3.

 

Honestly they are all nice courses. 

 

Golf has boomed the past few years here so I dont think any of them have deals on initiations, but I know Crane a few years back dropped their price a tad to attract new members.

What public courses do you like to play? Might help in recommending a private one from a course lay out stand point

What I’m really looking for is a club that has a good men’s group to join and have a regular game without having to bring your own 4some. 
 

I’ve belonged to a few different clubs while relocated over the years for work and easily my favorite was a club where we had a Saturday and Sunday men’s group that would meet on the 1st tee, throw balls in the air, and play for a few small bucks. Some weekends we’d have 7-8 guys, some times we’d have 25 but there was always a game.l to be found. I’ve belonged to longer courses, tougher courses, shorter courses, some fancier courses but the experience of having a regular group to play was always great. I’m not from here, I’m not great at networking and making friends so the ability to join a club has always been a way to “accidentally” create a social network through golf. 
 

I really have always enjoyed playing the various club tournaments such as Ryder cups, club championships, July 4th tournaments what ever the format, etc. 

 

for me the membership is more of the experience and the social aspect than the course layout. The layout can’t be an absolute dud but it also doesn’t need to be best in the valley.

None of the courses are duds so that's covered, all great tracks.

 

My buddy does play league and week day games at Crane, if you want to message me I can try and get you in touch with him for more in depth answers

They ALL have wait list currently. A good friend of mine (course designer) has an investor and they re looking for land as we speak. This area needs another private club and one with a great layout. I moved here from Bend, OR and the only thing I miss is my old track. The greens here are just OK at best....

Timberstone is an awesome course. It’s a little ways out from Boise but has some of the best greens and conditions in the valley IMHO. There is a new development going in north of Star but no word on if it’s going to be private or not.

I do like Tstone, but I think it needs a few more years for tree's and such to grow in.

 

It is in great condition each time I play it though...

It is going to be private from everything I have heard. I like Crane Creek but it is always so wet. It ruins it for me...

Honestly, I love River Bend out in Homedale. Cart paths are awful but the course is always awesome and great greens. It’s super soft though, but always love playing there.

I'm out in Caldwell so I play RB and Purple Sage a bit
