Mizuno wait time?

If I wanted a custom set today I'd buy a set off the rack and DIY the build.  And if I weren't skilled, have a local club maker replace the shafts or whatever.  

I really want to do this as I have the shaft I need in my current irons. I am probably handy enough to take out the heads but I don’t know  what else I would have to do besides put the epoxy on the shaft and stick the head in.

I hate to see Mizuno struggle when other manufacturers seem to have caught up.

 

I used to live within 5 miles of their headquarters in Braselton. The area is a northern Atlanta suburb, but the population isn’t as robust as most suburbs in the Atlanta area. I wonder if they are still dealing with worker shortages.

 

I can put a set of irons together, maybe I should drive back down there and help them out since I’m a huge Mizuno fan boy?

Given people in the UK are also struggling with wait times I think it's an issue in Japan. My uninformed guess is still that they did a huge production ramp for Costco (which now has JPX 923)

Yessir… It’s like a Father’s Day miracle.  My Wednesday next week delivery from DD jumped up to today, and they delivered.  Everything looks great—requested D2-D3 swing weight with MMT 105 S, and everything is right at D3.  I just started playing the MMT 105 S in my P790s, and they are phenomenal shafts (and heads for that matter).

Just got off phone with Mizuno, I didn't have my order number so I couldn't get specifics on my order, but he said they were shipping orders from 5/8 today. I also asked about the wedges I ordered and he said nothing was back-ordered on S23 or any shafts, so hopefully mine show up at the pro shop I ordered from this week

 

He did say they had some issues with certain heads being back-ordered, especially any blue ion finish and some putters. Didn't really ask about irons o woods.

Ok, so now I am really confused. I called the course pro I ordered from for an update, he reached out to the rep and got a reply that the S23 53 degree was on backorder until 6/28. I had literally just spoken to Mizuno and they said there were no S23 in copper or Satin on backorder....what a cluster. I love the clubs, my first experience ordering the irons in February was great, this has been a real cluster-F and leaving a bad taste for future purchases with them. Its a shame because I really love my irons.

Update on my end, my club pro just let me know mine came in today.  2 days shy of 7 weeks from ordering.  Hoping I can get those picked up tonight sometime!

Rep switched my order to satin instead of copper said they'll be in production by early next week. I feared waiting for a potential restock date then waiting for any orders ahead of mine to get filled prior to mine being built. I like the copper finish better, but its not a big deal I am ready to wait potentially an extra month for.

923 Tour custom ordered on May 8th. Ordered was put in on May 9th. Was informed that they are shipped today (Jun 21st)

221s ordered March 20th came in around June 1st.

 

223s ordered May 8th, I'm hearing they'll be in next week some time.

 

So, 7-10 weeks in my experience.

Done properly, it's a bit more involved than that. Luckily there are numerous Youtube videos on the process. If you're a first timer, I would practice once or twice on an old club you're no longer using before doing your gamer set. I'd say the most challenging is getting the ferrules looking nice and pretty.

For awareness - Full set of JPX 923 Forged was ordered on May 8. I was just told by Mizuno support that it was shipped and should be delivered tomorrow, June 23. 6.5 weeks on the dot.

I’m pretty handy but I don’t want to mess up as well. I called a shop they said they will do it for $37 a club for 7 clubs and that’s x2 for my old irons so I can trade them in so really not worth an extra $518 to get them now when I’ll wait hopefully 4.5 more weeks

Has anyone heard an updated reason for these long lead times? I can’t imagine it’s still from a “computer glitch” months ago.
