I must not swing the driver the right way. I am getting about 10 mph extra.

Or you're swinging out of your shoes with the driver and controlled with the irons or your driver swing is efficient and your iron swing is dreadful.

General rule of thumb is for evey club you go up, your swing speed should increase by 2 mph(its a function largely of the shaft length increase). So your driver is about the equivalent of a 2 or 3 iron in swing speed.

Doesn't apply to me.

I'm about 94 with a 7 iron and 115 driver.

Unless your playing with a 40" driver or single length irons, it works out.  Standard iron shaft gapping is a half inch per club and most driver shafts are 6-8"longer than a standard 7 iron

When I started out my 7i and driver speeds were the same as yours, very inefficient.

For 7i vs driver, I divide 7i speed by 0.8. So for your 7i speed, driver should be ~102 mph.

18% per Sasho Mackenzie.  This is comparing max 7 iron speed to max driver speed.

Or, you can see if your Driver distance is twice that of your PW . . .

not sure about that metric.... Maybe if you swing your PW like you swing your driver.

I'm 28% faster with Driver. 93 on the 7 iron, 119 on driver. Could probably max 7 iron at something like 98-99 though.

Perfect.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

Just food for thought . . .

Of course this really depends on the loft on your PW and could easily be a 9 or even an 8 in some older sets. YMMV.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

I'm around 114 with the driver, and increasing a little every month (thanks to Dr. Kwon's drills on Youtube), and usually around 95 with the 7 iron, although last range session I did hit 100mph with it.

What is a good ratio or how much faster should my driver swing speed be in comparison to my 7 iron? I think I am leaving something on the table with my driver.

Wouldn't driver speed v 7 iron speed be directly proportional to the ratio of the length of your driver to the length of your 7 iron? Mathematically it should.

Ever tested for your 3W swing speed? I imagine you have normal increments in speed based on shaft length until a certain club length.
